On Saturday 20 July, Gold Coast City has the opportunity to wine and dine with the very best in the business, thanks to Cystic Fibrosis Queensland, who are hosting the Wine Makers Masterclass.
Held at the stunning Soul Surfers Paradise Seaduction Restaurant, the Wine Makers Masterclass will feature brilliant Barossa wine makers, who will share insight about their exceptional wines as well as an amazing 5 course lunch.
It’s all in the name of a great cause – funds raised go to Cystic Fibrosis Queensland, the organisation offering support, education and empowerment to people in the Cystic Fibrosis community.
Cystic Fibrosis is a life-threatening degenerative condition affecting multiple body systems, including the lungs. According to Cystic Fibrosis Queensland, Cystic Fibrosis is a lifelong challenge whereby children diagnosed require medication, physiotherapy and other treatments for daily survival.
Families of children with Cystic Fibrosis, Australia’s most common life-threatening genetic condition, often experience enormous financial and emotional challenges. Cystic Fibrosis Queensland aims to offer support, education and guidance for people with Cystic Fibrosis and their families, including emotional support in the form of counselling, parent days and respite programs, health support such as equipment, physiotherapy, hospital accommodation, physical activity subsidies and special support for children during hospital stays. Cystic Fibrosis Queensland also provide education programs, advocacy and research.
The current cost of providing services to a person with Cystic Fibrosis is $1,366.00 per year. Facing withdrawal of government funding, Cystic Fibrosis Queensland are more dependent than ever before on the support of donations to continue to provide these crucial services to the Cystic Fibrosis community.
This is where the Wine Makers Master Class comes in. Guests indulge in a perfect blend of fine food, excellent company, exquisite wines and expert tuition, all the while contributing to enriching the lives of people with CF and their families.
According to Cystic Fibrosis Queensland, money raised from the Wine Makers Master Class will specifically go towards their home physio program, offering assistance to parents in times of crisis and respite to carers when needed.
Cystic Fibrosis Queensland’s home physio service provider offers treatment to children with Cystic Fibrosis in their homes and provides education for parents to assist in the management of their child’s condition at home.
Physiotherapy is a vital treatment for people with Cystic Fibrosis, with a minimum of 2 hours a day required to allow lung function and breathing. In addition, physio reduces duration of hospital stays for children with Cystic Fibrosis by offering in-home care, reduces significant stress on families by providing a free and fundamental service and improves the family’s ability to manage Cystic Fibrosis by teaching physio techniques.
Robina Group are proud sponsors of the Cystic Fibrosis Queensland Wine Makers Master Class and we encourage Gold Coast City to get involved; get schooled up on all things wine, while dining in superb style and contributing to the most worthy of causes.
