A new year, new goals, new resolutions and new adventures just waiting to be embarked upon. 2014 is shaping up to be an exciting year for CBDRobina and Gold Coast City, with many events and developments planned for the new year.

Get active for a good cause

If your New Year’s Resolution is to get fit or compete in a race, look no further than the Gold Coast Bulletin Fun Run on 27 April. The fun run is in its third year, and is adding the Griffith University 21.1km half marathon to the program, which already consists of a 1km, 2.5km, 5km and 10km race. The fun run has a strong charity focus, and if you reach the nominated fundraising target, your entry fee will be refunded.

Festivals and expos in Robina

The Women’s Health & Wellbeing Expo will return to Robina Community Centre in 2014 to recognise and celebrate the diversity and vibrancy of women’s lifestyles in Gold Coast City. At the free festival, experts will provide tips, advice, and educational and informative products and services, giving women the opportunity to learn more about how to get the most out of life at all ages.
The Gold Coast Film Festival celebrates film in one of Australia’s pre-eminent filmmaking locations. Over 75% of Queensland film production occurs in Gold Coast City, and the festival celebrates all aspects of film and filmmaking. There will be a culturally diverse, interactive and engaging program, celebrating internationally acclaimed dramas, comedies and genre films, Japanese anime, local indie gems and family feature films.

For the book lovers, the Somerset Celebration of Literature will celebrate its 21st anniversary in March. Robina Group is proud to sponsor the festival, which will see over 30 renowned international authors and illustrators showing their support for literature in Gold Coast City

Sport in Gold Coast City’s newest health and sport precinct

In Robina’s neighbouring suburb of Burleigh Heads, the Burleigh Breaka Pro is an international surfing competition that has been held annually at Burleigh Heads since 2010. The Breaka Pro features an Association of Surfing Professionals 6-star rated women’s event, and a 4-star rated men’s event. In 2014 the Burleigh Breaka Pro will run from Sunday 2 February to Sunday 9 February.

Rugby League kicks off in March with the first home game of the season for the Gold Coast Titans. Our boys will be up against the Wests Tigers at Skilled Park on Sunday 16 March.

In Rugby Union, the Qantas Wallabies will take on Argentina at Skilled Park on 13 September, before the Rugby Sevens World Series is back on the Gold Coast in October for a weekend of thrilling rugby and excited, dressed-up crowd.  The Qantas Wallabies’ partnership with Bond University will see the Wallabies, the men’s and women’s sevens and the Australian under 20s side enjoy the facilities at Bond University and the Bond Institute of Health and Sport.

Developing vibrant cities

It’s bound to be another big year for development in Robina, with Robina Group set to launch new projects in 2014. Masters Home Improvement is expected to open in April 2014 and the highly anticipated Robina Town Centre Carpark upgrade, consisting of a two-level parking facility equipped with an electronic parking guidance system, is due to finish mid-2014.

Robina Group would like to wish you a safe and happy festive season, and a prosperous 2014.
