Save the date Gold Coast City – Sunday 14 September will see our community step out in the annual fundraising event that is the 2014 Gold Coast Mayoress Charity Foundation the Seaway2Seaway Charity Walk.

Stretching for 35kms along the beautiful Gold Coast City coastline, the Seaway2Seaway walk celebrates our beautiful city, with participants taking in picturesque scenery from Southport’s iconic Spit to the famous surf breaks at Duranbah Beach.

What’s even better than taking an extended Sunday stroll and soaking up the sights of this amazing place we call home? Turning that stroll into funds for the charities who work tirelessly to support our community.

Kicking off at 5.30am from Doug Jennings Park in Southport, participants will pass through three support stops at Kurrawa Park in Broadbeach, Burleigh Heads and Palm Beach Parklands and will then complete the walk at the legendary border headland of Point Danger.

The Seaway2Seaway walk is structured to encompass all ages and fitness levels and walkers can choose to complete the full 35kms or select one of the alternate distances that are most comfortable for them.

Transport is covered, with buses returning to the Seaway from Justin Park in Burleigh Heads, Currumbin Pirate Park and Point Danger for a simple gold coin donation.

This fun, fit and fabulous event is an initiative of the Gold Coast Mayoress Charity Foundation, a not-for-profit charity organisation that aims to raise funds to support local charities in their work assisting Gold Coast City’s vulnerable and at risk community members.

The Gold Coast Mayoress Charity Foundation have collaborated with 11 partners for this years Seaway2Seaway event including Pindara Private Hospital, Gold FM, Gold Coast Bulletin, Sign Event, Coastal Logistics, OzHarvest, The Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth, Shac Communications, gcVIP, YP Gold Coast and Wet Fix.

Look out for our favourite food rescue charity, OzHarvest Gold Coast, who will be hosting a marquee at Currumbin Pirate Ship Park with a sausage sizzle.

Tickets are on sale now and available until the day before the event. All funds raised will go to the two charity partners for the event, OzHarvest Gold Coast City and Gold Coast Project for Homeless Youth.

Step out on Sunday 14 September and walk to support local charities in our Gold Coast City community.
