Gold Coast City is busy this week preparing for the annual Gold Coast Show, kicking off this Friday 30 August 2013 and it is set to be bigger and better than ever.

There’s a variety of great activities on offer, including the fantastic kids zone, with the Amazing Drumming Monkeys, circus, puppet theatre, Old McDonald’s farm, pig racing, Little Kickers and Little Big Sports as well as the Channel 9 Animal Nursery and Animal Precinct featuring poultry and cattle, goats and alpacas.

On the City of Gold Coast Stage, there is a lineup of entertainment that is second to none, featuring great local fashion with the Gold Coast City Fashion Designer Show, the Key to the City Game Show, Wildlife Encounters and much more.

A huge lineup of entertainment is planned for the night time events, including children’s entertainers Rompin Stompin Kids Show, vaudeville style shows, live music from robotic Showbotz and country and western star Tania Kernaghan, as well as exciting freestyle motorcross demonstrations by Showtime FX. All will be followed with a spectacular fireworks display, lighting up the night sky across Gold Coast City. In addition, Show organisers promise this years’ fireworks display will include a surprise twist.

Be sure to catch the Toowoomba Trail Ride Club’s Saturday and Sunday night horse show, bringing to life the story of the Man from Snowy River, as well as unique vocal and dance talent on the dedicated Community Performances stage.

There’s something for everyone, with over 400 commercial sites offering a range of wares for Gold Coast City shoppers, as well as creative and visual art workshops and demonstrations, model trains, woodturners and prestige cars at the Illuminated Industries Shed and fabulous food and coffee, with a Barista competition and product demonstrations.

The opening ceremony is set for 12pm Friday 30 August, featuring songstress Tania Kernaghan singing the Australian national anthem.

At the very heart of the Gold Coast Show tradition are the rides, sideshow alley and iconic showbags – the bag of goodness loved by kids and adults alike, full of toys, snacks, magazines, lollies, backpacks, drink bottles and more. With a huge variety of themed showbags and rides for all ages, be sure to be a part of the popular tradition that continues to excite and exhilarate annually.

The Gold Coast Show is held at Parklands in Southport and gates open at 9am each day and close at 9pm.
