The lush green parklands of Robina are set to host one of Gold Coast City’s biggest running events this Sunday, the Gold Coast Bulletin Fun Run.
With a range of races available to suit all ages and fitness levels, there is every reason to get up and get involved this weekend.
With a 1km kids dash, a 2.5km family run/walk, a 5km and 10km race for more seasoned runners and a half marathon for the very brave, tailored race options mean that all the family can be involved.
All races start and finish at Robina’s CBus Super Stadium, looping through the lakeside paths and roadways of Robina, with a series of turns depending on the length of the race.
In addition to the race events, there will be the annual Expo Alley shopping experience for event participants and Kids Corner for the little ones, featuring a jumping castle and face painting.
2015 Stawell Gift winner and Varsity College teacher, Murray Goodwin said he is looking forward to taking part in the event.
“The fact that you run in and out of the Cbus Super Stadium creates a great atmosphere.” Mr Goodwin said.
“There’s an event for everyone so it should be a really good day.”
Mr Goodwin, who placed third in last weekend’s ANZAC fundraiser, the Mateship Run in Gold Coast City’s Currumbin, is embracing the ANZAC spirit this weekend for the Gold Coast Bulletin Fun Run.
“Being the ANZAC weekend, it’s a great opportunity to get some family and friends together and celebrate some good old, quality Aussie mateship, as we do best” Mr Goodwin said.
“We all know that challenging yourself on the sports field is a great way to build character and the healthy mind, healthy body message is a big point we are trying to engage with.”
“Every runner counts. It’s all about having a good time.”
Sponsored by Gold Coast Bulletin, this weekend’s event has officially partnered with Gold Coast City mental health and suicide prevention charity, Livin
Livin aims to use fashion, public profiles and ambassadors, and social media to get people talking about mental health, thereby breaking down the stigma surrounding this issue.
Promoting healthy, active and balanced lifestyle, Livin aims to connect with the younger demographic using a media that they can relate to; the hope is to see change to the stigma around mental health by discussing mental health and educating early.
