Morning tea is being served all across the nation in the name of cancer research fundraising this May and June, as the Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea initiative rolls out.
The nation-wide morning tea is the Cancer Council’s annual campaign, designed to bring together colleagues, friends and family members to share a yummy morning tea and raise much needed funds and awareness for cancer research. Last year the initiative raised an amazing $11.9 million to help beat cancer and this year the target is $13 million to fund research and support services to those affected by this crippling disease.
Today is the official date of Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea, but hosts are encouraged to hold their morning teas anytime during May or June.
The idea is to register and host a morning tea at your home, school or workplace, create a fundraising page and share with family and friends. Get cooking and baking, share food and a cuppa with your invitees then share the donations and funds raised with Cancer Council.
According to the Cancer Council, funds raised will contribute to a range of cancer research, prevention and support service programs – as little as $5 will help provide a newly diagnosed cancer patient support and information resources about what is ahead.
At the Robina Group, we hosted our annual Biggest Morning Tea on Tuesday 26 May, sharing a mix of delicious treats baked and bought by all of our staff. We’re proud as punch to have raised over $2,000 this year from the Biggest Morning Tea to contribute to the essential work the Cancer Council does within our community. This was an increase on last year’s total contribution.
It’s not too late to get involved – make your cup count and check out the Cancer Council’s Australia’s Biggest Morning Tea website for further information.
Thank you to all who participated whether by baking or by contributing a financial donation.
