ANZAC Day is a special time in the hearts of Australians and thousands of Aussie’s will rise before dawn this Saturday 25 April 2015 to honour our fallen service men and women at ANZAC parades and services across the country.
The ANZAC Day tradition honours the anniversary of the landing of the ANZAC’s on Gallipoli in 1915 but now goes beyond that and has become the day for remembering all Australians who have served and lost their lives in world conflicts and peacekeeping operations.
2015 marks the 100 year centenary of ANZAC and the First World War, with centennial commemorations taking place across Australia to mark this momentous occasion.
Gold Coast City’s largest ANZAC parade and dawn service will take place at iconic Elephant Rock in Currumbin Beach, a major televised Australian event for this weekend’s national day of remembrance.
Robina will host a local citizen’s ANZAC service this Saturday, with the march beginning outside Target in Arbour Lane at Robina Town Centre.
Leading the parade is Gold Coast Tweed Pipes and Drums and veterans, cadets, local school students and community members will form the parade, with Robina residents and their families invited and encouraged to show their support by lining the streets.
Robina’s ANZAC Day Service will start at 9.00am in the auditorium of Robina Community Centre, where the community are invited to attend, lay a wreath and share morning tea following the service.
