Gold Coast City is gearing up to host an exercise event of a different kind this weekend – Sunday 26 October 2014 is Jog for Jugs, the annual, free, non-competitive, all ages fundraising beach jog, supporting the National Breast Cancer Foundation and Breast Cancer Network Australia.
Running from Mermaid Beach to First Ave, Broadbeach and back, pretty in pink participants will line the shores of this iconic stretch of Gold Coast City beach all in the name of breast cancer.
Event founder Peta Burton was inspired by the invigoration of her daily morning beach jog and so, seeking to raise some much needed cash for cancer, she created Jog for Jugs in 2011.
Since then, the event has grown and Peta hopes to create a national focus to have ‘one country running on one day’ and unite in pink, raising funds for the most common cancer affecting Australian women.
