Local Robina resident Jack Sullivan is golf’s newest rising star, finishing the ranking season as the number two junior male golfer in Australia.

At just 17, the former Robina High School student, who was ranked 25th last year, skyrocketed up the ranks to second place following a series of victories this season, including the Queensland and New South Wales Junior Championships.

When he’s not practising on the course, Jack works at the Palmer Colonial and Palmer Gold Coast courses in Robina.

Jack attributes his rising success to hard work and determination, and has focussed on the mental side of his golf game.

“I feel more composed now and don’t get so down on myself if I hit a bad shot, I just try to focus on the next one and make sure it’s better” he said.

“I’ve been able to do that a lot more and it’s been a massive help to my game.

The Greg Norman Junior Masters tournament will be Jack’s final tournament as a junior, and he will be playing right at home in Robina.

The first three rounds are will be played across Gold Coast City’s Palmer Colonial and Palmer Gold Coast courses from Friday 13 December to Sunday 15 December, with the final round at Palmer Coolum Resort on Tuesday 17 December.

The Gold Coaster, who finished sixth in last year’s tournament, is determined to finish his junior career with a win under his belt.

“As always the field will be very strong, but you always want to test yourself against the best.”

Jack’s 2014 season will tee off in South Australia on 9 January.
