Pellicano Secures Robina Site
Melbourne-based property group Pellicano has settled the purchase of a development site in CBDRobina at the heart of Gold Coast City.
The 2,769sqm parcel secured from master developer, Robina Group is situated on Centreline Place in the fast-expanding Stadium Village precinct.
It is understood Pellicano paid $2 million-plus for the parcel.
More than $17 million of development-ready land in CBDRobina has been sold in the past 12 months, with a limited number of approved sites in the sought-after precinct remaining available.
The sale was negotiated by Colliers International Gold Coast director, Darrell Irwin, and associate director, Geoff Lamb, following an offers to purchase campaign.
Pellicano managing director Nando Pellicano said the developer was finalising plans for the site.
“We are looking at delivering a multi-level mixed-use building and look forward to sharing more details as plans progress over the coming months,” he said.
“The south east Queensland property market is well positioned to continue its growth trajectory and we believe Robina is ideally located to benefit, due to its central Gold Coast position.”
Mr Irwin said the significant amenity surrounding the site was a drawcard, with the campaign attracting interest from development groups from Gold Coast City, Brisbane, Sydney and Melbourne.
He said the fact the site had development approval in place for commercial or mixed-use projects – including office, showroom, medical and residential, with a height limit of eight storeys – added to the appeal.
“Sites of this size are in short supply in central Gold Coast City, which makes an opportunity like this extremely rare,” he said.
“There are few places in the city featuring this level of infrastructure and amenity, with Robina Town Centre, Robina Train Station, the health hub including both public and private hospitals, Bond University’s Institute of Health and Sport, and Cbus Stadium all at the doorstep.
“The Stadium Village precinct is fast-evolving, with a number of projects in the pipeline, which will inject hundreds of new residents into the area over the coming years.”
A new Sunkids Children’s Centre is nearing completion and work recently commenced on the new $170 million Vue Terrace Homes community, where more than $60 million in sales has been secured. The site adjoining the Pellicano site also recently settled with a new Anytime Fitness to be constructed on the site.
Robina Group general manager Hylton Slater said the company decided to subdivide a larger parcel into two sites to accommodate strong demand for boutique development sites. The sites sold and settled quickly for a combined value circa $6 million. Read more about the Anytime Fitness sale here.
“We first developed the masterplan for Robina more than three decades ago and have seen it undergo a significant transformation over that time. It is exciting to see the Stadium Village precinct being activated by commercial and residential communities,” he said.
“Our focus has always been on developing a diverse masterplanned destination that features a city-scale level of opportunity. The contribution that other developers and businesses make is a to achieving this.”
