Following a strong desire to bring beautiful textiles to Australia, owner and founder of Boyd Blue, Shelley Boyd, began selling fabric to Gold Coast City designers from her car in 1999. With a growing customer base and demand for exquisite interiors, Shelley nurtured her ambition and grew her business from these humble beginnings to a national organisation. Boyd Blue is today run by a team of Sales and Operations professionals, passionate about supplying designer furniture and decor to the interior design, architecture and property development industries.
Shelley cites the philosophy underpinning Boyd as the drive to provide the whole spectrum of interior design products and services, offering real innovation in terms of providing services to clients, including custom furniture design and upholstery, bespoke furniture finishes and polishing. Focussing on collaboration with suppliers, Boyd Blue aims to bring exclusive, eclectic products to Australia.
Evolving over the last 14 years, Boyd Blue now operates four wholesale showrooms, a warehouse, furniture manufacturing, a furniture polishing business and a clearance outlet store. The business represents two international brands in Australia and NZ and is the distributor of Lounge Designer Furniture nationally.
“I think what really sets our business apart is our focus on customer service at every stage of the sales process. I have an incredible team. We are presenting our products in beautiful and inspirational settings. We want our clients to be encouraged to use our showrooms, a place they can bring their clients for inspiration. The exclusivity of pieces and organic and natural products in our range also set Boyd Blue apart from the rest” Shelley said.
“Selecting Australian made and designed is important to our Boyd Blue philosophy. All of our brands, bar Arteriors Home (USA) and Skyline (Spain), our first international brands, are Australian owned and run businesses, supporting our economy and employment.”
“Under the Boyd Blue umbrella, we also manage and own White Furniture Design. White creates an extensive range of beautiful, quality made furniture. All pieces are proudly crafted in our workroom here in Gold Coast City from local materials. White Furniture is available exclusively to Interior Designers, Architects and selected retailers.”
“In addition, we have an in-house furniture polisher here in Gold Coast City who has 16 years’ experience. He’s worked on major refurbishment projects like Versace, the Marriott and Jupiter’s Casino, and a number of residential high-rises in Gold Coast City. He is able to bespoke custom finish on any of our products and creates beautiful individual custom items for our clients” Shelley said.
According to Shelley, there is no place in the world like Gold Coast City and she counts her lucky stars to have built her successful business in such a special part of the world.
“While I was travelling in my early 20’s, my parents moved from NZ to Gold Coast City and before long I moved here to be closer to my family. The attraction for me is the relaxed lifestyle, the beach, the mountains, the valleys, the Hinterland and the gorgeous weather. I wouldn’t want to live anywhere else” Shelley said.
“Our business has grown enormously all over Australia but I still feel fortunate that we can have our Head Office and warehouse, furniture manufacturing and furniture polishing businesses, along with our Boyd Clearance store all based in Gold Coast City”.
It’s fair to say that beautiful is Boyd Blue’s middle name but more than just exquisite aesthetics, sustainability is at the core of what Boyd do.

In-house brand Boyd lives this philosophy, with the collection sourced from around the globe, including destinations such as India, the Philippines, Indonesia, Italy, France and Portugal and primarily handcrafted, by artisans, preserving the dying art of craftsmanship.
“The Boyd style is incredibly eclectic, from hand blown glass, hand woven rattan, hand carved timbers, bronze, brass and copper accents on furniture and accessories. We import natural linens and mohair, cotton velvets and upholstery textiles from Italy, Belgium and Germany, handmade grass weave papers from the Philippines, hand woven wool rugs from India and stunning framed artworks from international artists exclusively for our Boyd brand” Shelley said.
