Earlier this year, the Crowne Plaza hosted the annual Gold Coast City Red Shield Appeal Breakfast, which saw varied industry and business leaders come together in a huge fundraising effort.

Prominent Gold Coast City lawyer Tony Hickey, Managing Partner of Hickey Lawyers, chaired the event and thanks to his hard work and the generosity of Gold Coast City’s business community, more than $300,000 was raised to kick start the Salvation Army’s annual Red Shield Appeal.

This outstanding effort was recognised recently, with the event being awarded Gold Coast Bulletin’s Dig Deep Award and Gold Coast City hailed at Australia’s most charitable city.

Robina Group are proud contributors to and attendees of the annual event and also support the great work of the Salvation Army directly with their appeals throughout the year.

Since 1880, Salvation Army have been working to help Australians and remain one of Australia’s largest, most active and most diverse charities.

The Salvo’s take pride in offering community support from a holistic, whole person approach, which addresses the complexity of the multi-faceted issues that can face our most vulnerable members of society. From aged care, community services, children’s services, court and prison services, emergency services, employment services, family counselling, youth support and more, there isn’t much the Salvo’s don’t do to support and promote social justice in our community.

Across Gold Coast City, you’ll see Salvation Army logos on Salvo’s stores, Employment Service Centres, offices, Recovery Services and Community Welfare Centres.

The Red Shield Appeal is the Salvation Army’s primary annual fundraising drive and the Tony Hickey chaired Red Shield Breakfast precedes the commencement of this campaign.
