Last Wednesday saw Australian Industry Trade College (AITC) open its Robina campus doors to the public, showcasing all that this unique Gold Coast City training institute has to offer.

Established in 2008, AITC is the first of its kind in Gold Coast City, providing a crucial alternative education approach, whereby students gain senior academic education at the same time as technical career training preparing for apprenticeships.

AITC has proudly created over 650 apprenticeships with over 98% success rate for graduates in achieving their senior school certificate. In addition, AITC enables a fast tracked career progression, with graduates potentially completing 45% of their trade qualification by the end of Year 12.

Innovative, motivational and practical, AITC provide a twin education style that prepares students for the real world with real career options.

Located at their modern Scottsdale Drive, Robina premises since April 2011, the $10 million AITC facility is state of the art, offering up to the minute technology, a hybrid learning environment featuring e-learning platforms, a fully staffed strength and fitness studio for all students as well as great recreational spaces fostering student interaction and wellbeing.

Last week’s open day saw bubbly bright students directing cars and warmly welcoming attendees as they entered the facility. Information packs were offered to guests by well-informed, enthusiastic staff upon entry and funky, branded bracelets were snapped on to willing arms by excited students.

The sunny open campus was transformed with multiple trade stands, interactive activities such as welding and bricklaying and interactive media demonstrating education curriculum.

Bright, engaging classrooms were open for inspection as well as the exceptional gym and information technology space and student led tours offered a real insight to a young persons experience at AITC. With no shortage of staff on hand to answer all and any questions, two informative information sessions for parents and students and well earned sausage sizzles and coffee for all guests, it’s no wonder AITC staff were expecting over 90 families to attend.

If you were unlucky enough to miss the AITC open day this week, be sure to attend the next free information session held on campus September 4th 2013 at 5pm.
