Gold Coast City’s businesswoman community gathered in the gorgeous sun last Friday for a long ladies lunch hosted by Dress me GC, all in the name of fundraising for community charity OzHarvest.

Limited formalities allowed guests to mix and mingle and a luxurious lunch with delicious wine courtesy of Vie, Versace’s signature restaurant, topped off a ladies lunch with serious style.

Pop-up shoe and clothing stores displayed local wares and raffles raised funds for featured charity OzHarvest, including prizes generously donated by the local business community.

Guest speaker Lee Danahay from OzHarvest Gold Coast City shared insight and inspiration, telling the tale of OzHarvest’s humble beginnings.

From the little idea of founder Ronnie Kahn in response to the problem of food waste, OzHarvest has grown into a national organization serving up 19.4 million meals to Aussies in need to date.

On sale at Friday’s luncheon were the OzHarvest ‘food rescue’ Cookbooks and Danahay shared the story of their inception.

When OzHarvest approached the nation’s top chefs to consider donating their surplus food, they discovered these restaurants had adopted a no waste policy, finding ways to incorporate all surplus food back into their meals.

Not content to simply walk away from this great organization, the chefs and numerous contributors collaborated with OzHarvest to create the masterpiece that is the OzHarvest Cookbook, which teaches our community how to translate the commercial kitchens’ no waste policy to our homes. It helps that the recipes are delectable and the chefs are some of the most celebrated in the country.
