Robina is undergoing a wonderful renaissance.

There’s a real excitement about new developments.  Robina Town Centre’s continuing evolution is about to bear more fruit; Council’s work to ease traffic congestion continues; and as always we love to get behind our hard-working volunteers.

The best is yet to come. This update includes some highlights of the last few weeks.

Robina Spring Clean

About 40 volunteers from across Robina and the wider community participated in our inaugural Robina Spring Clean event.

Volunteers spent the morning collecting litter and abandoned goods in the parks, wetlands and vacant sites around Robina Town Centre.

The area is looking much nicer – and we hope locals help us keep it that way. Stay tuned for more information about our Graffiti Blitz in coming weeks.

Heroes Recognised

Hardworking volunteers were acknowledged for their contribution to our community at the Division 11 Community Hero Awards held recently at Club Robina – 38 nominations in total.

Many award winners have been tirelessly serving Robina for decades as members of several service, social and Neighbourhood Watch groups.

Volunteers from Robina Red Cross, Hope Church and Winterfest were singled out for outstanding personal contributions over the last twelve months.

If you know someone who deserves recognition for their effort in our community, please get in touch.

Free Army Band Concert

The Australian Army Band Brisbane is returning to Robina on Saturday 19 November! The much-loved band will captivate locals with a delightful music program.

The concert starts at 11.30am at the Robina Community Centre auditorium on 196 Robina Town Centre Drive, Robina.

There will be a raffle to support Robina Lions – and there will also be Lions Christmas cakes and puddings for sale.

The concert is free – no tickets or bookings required.  Gather your friends and I look forward to seeing you there.

Work Complete Early

Upgrade of the Christine Avenue and Scottsdale Drive intersection (at the Easy-T Centre) has been completed months ahead of schedule.

This ambitious upgrade is helping to ease congestion and better position Robina for future growth. Work included replacing the roundabout with traffic lights, adding new turning lanes, formalised pedestrian crossings and completion of missing footpaths.

The intersection will be monitored by City officers at the Joint Traffic Management Centre in Nerang. In time, this will ensure signals are tweaked to help clear bottlenecks.

Roadworks RobinaRoad Upgrades

Work has begun on the upgrade of the Robina Parkway and Cheltenham Drive intersection.

Changes will include an additional turning lane and changes to signal timing, we hope this will help traffic from the M1 Motorway heading east across Gold Coast City.

The intersection upgrade will coincide with the reconstruction of the Thorngate Drive bus stop and the reconstruction of most of the Cheltenham Drive/Cottesloe Drive corridor.

Total works are estimated at $2.65 million.

Road Safety Improvements

I have secured a further $20,000 to fund two additional speed awareness devices for our community.

These popular ‘smiling signs’ have helped inadvertent speeding right across the Gold Coast. They’re particularly useful where local streets suffer from rat-running.

This means there will be more signs here at the heart of the Gold Coast than anywhere else in the City.
