The cars are rolling into Coolangatta, ready for Australia’s biggest 1950’s and 60’s festival, Cooly Rocks On, which kicks off today, Friday 31 May 2014.

Gold Coast City is set to be transformed this week and for 11 huge days and nights, Coolangatta will travel back in time as it plays host to classic cars, rock’n’roll, retro and rockabilly.

There’ll be over 1,000 hot rods, classic and custom cars.

There’ll be music for all tastes stretching for 2 kilometres on the Coolangatta beach-front, including rock’n’roll, rockabilly and swing.

There’ll be over 100 craft and retro market stalls for all shopping styles.

There’ll vintage inspired food, street parades, competitions, dancing and more; Cooly Rocks On has something to offer all ages, both the young and the young at heart.

With last years’ numbers exceeding 94,000, this years’ event is set to soar, with thousands of visitors boosting Gold Coast City’s economy.

Must-sees for 2014 include the Old Mal Surf Championships at Greenmount Beach this Saturday 31 May, the massive Sharp Motor Group Street Parade and Miss Cooly Rocks On Vintage Glamour Pageant both on Saturday 7 June and the Retro markets running from June 5-8.

Live music will feature every day of the festival and for something a little different, check out the Poodle-Oodle parade on June 8 or attend one of the Bop Johnny dance workshops running from June 2-7.

Take a trip back in time and check out Cooly Rocks On.
