Gold Coast City is famous for it’s glitz and glam and has an on-trend fashion scene that’s growing by the minute. It’s cool and it’s cultured, it’s hip and it’s happening but who’s behind all those gorgeous faces?

Mia Connor, that’s who. She’s the local Robina makeup artist and owner of Robina’s The Makeup Bar and she’s turning heads with her flawless style, photoshop finishes and top tanning.

Mia’s salon, The Makeup Bar, is into its seventh year of operation and business continues to boom. Specialising in makeup, spray tanning, hair styling and hair extensions, The Makeup Bar is the one stop shop for all things beauty in Gold Coast City.

A private, pleasant one on one environment, away from busy makeup counters in shopping centres, Mia Connor’s salon also offers appointments outside business hours to offer a customised, relaxed experience for busy Gold Coasters that’s unique to The Makeup Bar.

According to Mia, Robina was the perfect location for her business due to its central location, ease of navigation, lack of congestion and great parking. It’s helps that her Robina salon is less than five minutes from home too.

“Robina is a thriving residential area which is also really great for business.” Mia said.

Career success sees Mia taking Gold Coast City to the world, having recently developed her own signature makeup brush and travelling to Sydney for the Mercedes Benz Fashion Week in 2013 as head makeup artist for Whitesands swimwear.

Mia clocks up some travel miles for work, having recently returned from assignments in the exotic locations of Samoa and Hamilton Island.

This makeup superstar has worked with her fair share of celebrities too, including the likes of Jesinta Campbell, Imogen Bailey and Shelley Craft.

Mia is in high demand as a hair and makeup artist on local photoshoots too, having worked with some of Gold Coast City and Brisbane’s top photographers and on several Robina Group photoshoots.

It’s no wonder Mia Connor has been a finalist for Makeup Artist of the Year for two years running, with the 2014 winner being announced in August.

Having dreamed of being an artist as a child, Mia has channelled that creativity into makeup and people are her canvas. Gold Coast Panache Magazine sung her praises, naming her the “go-to girl for all things makeup” and according to Mia, it’s her smokey eye that really gets people fired up.

“My smokey eye technique is probably my signature style that I am most known for, together with my attention to brows”

If you need some making over, be it sultry smokey eyes, perfectly manicured brows or a tropical island tan, don’t look past The Makeup Bar in Robina, where Mia Connor is glamming up Gold Coast City.
