Robina resident Brett Connell is a local business owner with true community spirit. Franchisee and Manager of Brumby’s Easy T since shortly after it’s opening in 2007, Brett is passionate about everything local and is an avid supporter of many local community organisations and schools.

Whether it’s supplying baked goods for the Robina Hospital Palliative Care Unit for their patient and family morning tea and BBQ’s, supporting fundraising activities for the local kindergarten or supporting the RACQ Careflight Helicopter, benevolence is as high on his list of priorities as business success. Brett is focussed on making a real difference in both the Robina and wider Gold Coast City community.

“I believe it’s so important to understand what is happening in your local community and to find really effective ways to connect with and assist the most vulnerable and needy people.” Brett said.

“The phrase ‘Think Global, Act Local’ is very true, if you dedicate a small amount of time each week to helping those who are in real need in your community, you really can make a difference. What may seem like a small thing or a small amount of time, is appreciated enormously by the less fortunate members of our society.”

“I also think it’s very important to connect with local schools, hospitals and other cornerstone organisations in our community. As a parent, I like to keep in touch with the philosophies and activities of the school my kids attend. Getting involved in school fundraising efforts whenever possible is a great way to be kept in the loop.” he said.

Having taken over the Brumby’s Easy T franchise from developers and previous employers Robina Group, Brett has taken the fledgling business from strength to strength. Building up a huge local patronage, Brett has a reputation as a friendly local baker with a great team of staff who are friendly and engaging.

A family man and a long term Robina resident, Brett has noticed a huge change in the area surrounding Brumby’s Easy T since taking over the business. Christine Avenue has transformed into a thriving, bustling section of Robina with the Automall precinct now complete and Masters Home Improvement Centre due to open very soon.

The Scottsdale Drive commercial corridor linking Robina to Burleigh Heads has had several new commercial headquarters added to the mix including Queensland Police, Pacifica Seafood and Condev Construction. Being positioned at the junction of Scottsdale Drive an Christine Avenue in the popular Easy T Centre has positioned Brumby’s Easy T in an easy access location, making it the bakery of choice for more and more people as the area expands.

“It’s great to see the CBDRobina vision coming to fruition and new businesses cropping up all the time. It’s such a prosperous area of Gold Coast City, attracting visitors from all over Gold Coast City and Northern New South Wales.”

Brumby’s is a recognisable and trusted national bakery name but having a friendly and familiar face, who is also an active community contributor, makes all the difference to local regulars.

“I love dropping in and seeing Brett’s smiling and happy face” said regular customer Carolyn. “Knowing how active he is in supporting the local community, makes me all the happier to support him and his business.”

Brumby’s Easy T Bakery is open seven days a week from 6 till 5 and offer a full range of freshly baked breads, pastry’s and cakes.
