Given those statistics, it’s no wonder that many of our lives have been touched by breast cancer in some way.
October is a huge month for breast cancer awareness and fundraising, with Cancer Council’s Pink Ribbon Day on 27 October and the national Pink Ribbon campaign running throughout the month.
Gold Coast City is on board, getting pinked out this Sunday for Triathlon Pink and Fun Run Pink; two fun, sporting challenges suitable for all ages and fitness levels, taking place at the Runaway Bay Sports Super Centre.
Triathlon Pink, sponsored by Ramsey Health Care, is a triathlon series, offering participants a range of length options for the swim, ride and run race aspects. While mostly for females, there is a ‘men in pink’ race for the Gold Coast City guys getting behind breast cancer awareness.
For those looking for a challenge on a smaller scale, the Brooks Fun Run Pink offers 5km and 2.5km runs for men and women competitors, as well as a 1km kids race.
All pink events this Sunday aim to raise awareness for breast cancer in Australia and to also raise funds, supporting the official charity partners National Breast Cancer Foundation, Breast Cancer Network Australia, McGrath Foundation and Mater Chicks in Pink.
Triathlon Pink and Fun Run Pink, through their seven events across Australia aim to raise $250,000 to support the charity partners in their fight against breast cancer.
