Gold Coast City residents will have the opportunity to soak up some live country music this week at the inaugural Mudgeeraba Muster, location just a few minutes from CBDRobina.
An initiative of the Mudgeeraba Chamber of Commerce and City of Gold Coast Division 9 Councillor, Glenn Tozer, the Mudgeeraba Music Muster will be a celebration of ‘all things country’, featuring a star-studded line-up of some of Australia’s finest country music bands and artists, as well as young and emerging talent.
Headlining the Mudgeeraba Music Muster and appearing on the main stage on Sunday 20 October is one of Australia’s most loved and respected country music stars, Tania Kernaghan.
An integral member of the Kernaghan country music dynasty, Tania is a successful songwriter whose musical achievements include a string of Golden Guitar Awards including the coveted Female Vocalist of the Year (twice), Song of The Year, Album of the Year and Vocal Collaboration of the Year.
Joining the line-up is six-piece, high energy juggernaut, the Round Mountain Girls. Blistering performances at the Gympie Muster, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Bluesfest and the Central Coast Country Music Festival have cemented this Northern Rivers band’s standing as one of Australia’s most exciting and sought-after Festival acts.
Hillbilly Goats, The Lamplights, Scott Dann, Midnight Rodeo and country music icon, Chad Morgan, are all confirmed to appear at various venues and/or the outdoor stages during the three day festival.
Mudgeeraba Chamber of Commerce President, John Forrester, says the brand new event will showcase the local area, hinterland environment and businesses.
“The Muster will give people from other parts of the Gold Coast, as well as tourists, the opportunity to step away from the beaches and experience the relaxed and friendly country atmosphere and charm that is ‘uniquely’ Mudgeeraba,” he said.
“Mugeeraba is only minutes from Robina and only 10 kilometres from the famous Gold Coast City beaches. Our location just off the M1 at exit 79 makes it an ideal central location for Gold Coast City residents to enjoy a family environment and quality live music.
The Mudgeeraba Music Muster will see the entire town come together for the event, with Wallaby Bob’s Hotel, Woodchoppers and the Mudgeeraba Market Shopping Centre all becoming venues for country music entertainment.
The free outdoor concert, which will be held in Mudgeeraba’s main street Swan Lane on Sunday 20 October, will feature a full day’s program of music, roving buskers and entertainers, and fun for all the family from 11am to 4pm. Two outdoor stages will be erected – the Main Stage and the Village Stage – and Swan Lane will be closed to traffic for the massive street party.
Gold Coast City Council is the major sponsor of the Mudgeeraba Music Muster. City of Gold Coast Division 9 Councillor Glenn Tozer emphasised, “Our support for the Muster is part of my commitment to drive the economy of Mudgeeraba Village through a robust community events calendar. The Muster is a great example of the Chamber working hard for local businesses and engaging the community in a way that makes Mudgeeraba an excellent place to live and work. It’s going to be a great success.”
The event has also received generous support from local businesses, with Robina Group and Mudgeeraba Market Shopping Centre both coming on board as sponsors.

Headlining the main stages will be old and new legends of Australian country music – including country music pioneer Chad Morgan, and one of the country’s most loved and respected performers in her own right, Tania Kernaghan.
Joining them will be performances by Dan Hannaford, Scott Dann & Midnite Rodeo, The Banderas Band, Hillbilly Goats and The Round Mountain Girls.
Fresh from a packed-out performance at the Ballina Country Music Festival, The Round Mountain Girls will send the crowd off on Sunday afternoon with their unique set of country rock.
Hailing from the Northern NSW Coast, the band’s lead singer Chris Eaton describes their sound as a cross between The Pogues and Mumford & Sons, delivered by Metallica.
“Our shows are vibrant, energetic and lots of fun – we are really more of a rock band playing country instruments and we bring a different flavour to every song we perform,” he said.
With the event mustering huge support from the local community, Mr Eaton said it was a great time to introduce a new festival to celebrate country music.
“Gold Coast City is crying out for something like this, we just hope people come out and support it – it’s all free so there is no excuse not to come. Get out and enjoy a free weekend of fantastic music!”
Also featuring in the Sunday line up, finalists of the Mudgeeraba Muster “Sounds Of Country” Competition will battle it out in front of the crowd and high-profile industry judges to be crowned the Mudgeeraba Winner.
Local businesses will be getting into the country spirit, staging a number of foot-stomping musical acts over the main weekend:
• The Banderas Band – Mudgeeraba Bowls Club, Saturday 19 October, 6pm to 9pm
• The Hillbilly Goats – Tallai Golf Club, Saturday 19 October, 7pm to 10pm
• The Daisy Dukes – Wallaby Hotel, Saturday 19 October, 8pm to 12 Midnight
• The Lamplights – Wallaby Hotel, Sunday 20 October, 4.30pm to 7.30pm
Swan Lane will also host a photographic exhibition by legendary Australian country music photographer, writer and documentary maker John Elliott, which will be included as part of the Muster from 14-20 October thanks to V8 Superfest.
