Mark Daniels Patisserie – Eye candy
There has been a lot of buzz around town since Mark Daniel’s Patisserie set up shop in The Kitchens at Robina Town Centre earlier this year, so we knew it was time to pop in and try the mouth-watering delights for ourselves.
The fancy kiosk-style looking counter is stocked full of colourful sweet treats which look delightful to the eye.
With an already stellar reputation, thanks to his success at the hugely-popular Eat Street Markets in Brisbane, pastry connoisseur and owner Mark Canham is on to another winner with his Robina patisserie.
The minute we approach the shop window, we feast our eyes upon the most delectable looking desserts, and from that moment, we know it’s going to be tough deciding what to sink our teeth into.
We decided to indulge with the most popular item in the cabinet and one of our all time favourites – the macaron.
With so many flavours to choose from, it was difficult to select just a few. From the classics – salted caramel, chocolate, strawberry and vanilla – to the more contemporary selections of liquorice and passionfruit marshmallow, the choices were endless.
We set our sights on some all-time favourites – strawberry and vanilla – and finished off with a modern twist – mint chocolate and blueberry. These airy, sweet, little bundles of happiness provided the perfect prelude to the sweet pleasures we were about to experience – even if it was nearly impossible to stop at just two!
Next-up, our tastebuds took a journey to France to indulge in another timeless favourite, the pain au chocolate (or chocolate croissant).
It is difficult to find a real-deal croissant that’s crispy on the outside, while buttery and fluffy on the inside, but Mark Daniel’s Patisserie has definitely nailed-it. The croissants are the kind of treat that only comes with years of knowledge and practice in the industry – and Mark’s expertise left our mouths-watering well past the final bite.
With our stomachs almost filled to the brim, Mark insisted we try one final treat – his top pick, the apple crumble petit gateaux. This lime green creation was like nothing we had ever seen and was a feast for the eyes, as well as the tastebuds.
The fresh, distinctive flavours and creamy centre, combined with the chewy biscuit base and fresh jelly filled our mouths. This bright dessert was definitely a treat we would be reaching for again.
Mark explains the secret behind his delectable desserts – he and his team of 11 staff ensure they are all freshly handmade and baked in-store each and everyday
The detail that has gone into every dessert is quite incredible and Mark Daniel’s Patisserie also serve up thick shakes and coffees – the perfect accompaniment to your dessert!
