Gold Coast City Christmas Lights

Gold Coast City has come alight for Christmas with a dazzling display of Christmas lights across the Coast. The Gold Coast City Council has compiled a list of some of the best Christmas lights displays here.

Jump in the car, download the list, set your GPS, press play on the Christmas carols and get into the festive spirit.

Alternatively, bus tours of the lights depart from the Arts Centre Gold Coast each night at 7pm.  $1 from each tour ticket sold will be donated to the 2013 Mayor’s Christmas Appeal. For more information and to book visit http://murrays.com.au/GoldcoastChristmasLightsTour.aspx.

Date: Friday 6 December – Tuesday 24 December
Time: Tours depart 7pm, return around 10pm
Cost: Free if you drive, ride or walk.  Tours $15.50 for adults and $10.50 for children 14 and under.

Celebrity Chef Miguel Maestre visits Robina Town Centre

Get inspired for with one of Australia’s most-loved chefs at Robina Town Centre this Saturday.

Celebrity Chef Miguel Maestre is best known from his weekly TV appearances on TEN’s The Living Room, and is famous for incorporating Spanish ingredients and cooking styles into his modern Australian menus.

Miguel will be cooking a selection of dishes from his new cookbook Spanish Cooking, including Chorizo & Pistachio Stuffed Chicken with Fresh Corn, Churros con Chocolate, Paella a la Maestre and Chocolate Fondue with Strawberries Flambe. After each cooking demonstration he will be available for a meet and greet.

Get along to the Fresh Food Market this weekend at Robina Town Centre for more cooking demonstrations, to get fresh food recipes and deals, and enjoy some delicious samples.

The Gatsby Experience…

Tappers Flappers N All That Jazz Pay tribute to the fabulous 1920s this December with a Gatsby-inspired Christmas dinner and show at the Gold Coast Arts Centre.

Expect diamonds, feathers and tassels as the Paradise Showroom is transformed into a moody jazz scene, filled with bootlegging gangsters and elegant flappers in gorgeous costumes. Your ticket includes a three course meal and the spectacular show, featuring the Rag a Muffin Sister Stacey performing a solo pole routine, the GG Showgirls, flappers, high kicking dancers, and vocalist Robyn Loau will be playing the incredible, famous and risqué 20s artist Josephine Baker.

The Gatsby Experience will be showing on Saturday 7 December, Friday 13 December and Saturday 14 December.

Mayor’s Christmas Carols

If you missed last week’s Carols Under the Stars at Skilled Park Robina, or if you just can’t get enough of those Jingle Bells, get your Christmas Carol fix this Saturday at the Broadwater Parklands.

Pre-show entertainment begins at 4:30pm, featuring the Paradise Kids Angel Choir, Surfers Paradise Brass Band, Christmas craft activities and face painting.

The main carols event begins at 5:30pm, including performances from Paulini, David De Vito, Anna-Maria La Spina, The Lions Den, Matt Ward, Liz Conde, Petrina and Cazmir Zaphir, Rainbow Teddies, Bob La Castra, Gret and Katey Aspeling and the Benowa State School Choir.

Fireworks will light up the Gold Coast City sky at 8:30pm. Food is available for purchase at the venue. Free parking at Australia Fair and surrounding public car parks.

Ashmore Community Carols

Get in the festive mood and come enjoy an inspirational night of carols. Join the “joy giver”, Tommy Franklin from Australia’s Got Talent, Mutto from Australian Idol, and the Gold Coast’s own hip-hop star, Matt Russell, on this epic night of celebrating.

The whole family will have fun at the preshow with entertainment for everyone including kid’s games, Old Macdonald’s Farm, jumping castles, sausage sizzle, and more. Don’t forget to bring a chair or blanket. The event is free and family friendly.

Time: Preshow from 5.30pm and main show from 7pm.

Rotary Car Boot Sale and Sausage Sizzle, Burleigh Waters

If you’re looking to pick up some unique, bargain Christmas presents or keen to sell some of your own things and make some extra cash, don’t miss the Rotary Car Boot Sale at Stocklands Burleigh Heads this Sunday.

You will find a range of clothes, DVDs, appliances, sports equipment and other miscellaneous treasures, and you can enjoy the sausage sizzle while you’re bargain hunting. If you’re looking to clear out your house and put some cash back in your pocket, for only $20 you can secure a stall and sell your excess stuff for whatever price you wish.
