Robina community initiative makes giving easy

It’s National Volunteering Week this week. There’s no better time than the present to think about how we can help others feel cared for and thought about during this very difficult time, when so many Australians are feeling isolated and lonely. Many wonderful volunteers are doing such amazing jobs to help those less fortunate, and we thank you for all you do.

There is now a really simple way that we can all help to spread joy from our own home. Something that people of all ages and capabilities can do to bring happiness to others and brighten their day, so they feel special.

Messages From Oz is a community project, developed right here in Robina. It’s been created to bring delight and joy into the lives of at least 100,000 elderly and sick people, who are feeling isolated and alone in the many care facilities around Australia.

This project is designed to make a true connection through the power of the pen. And it is so simple. Postcard and Letter packs are pre-designed and printed, ready for you to write or draw your own personal message. Through its network of aged care facilities, hospices, nursing homes, shelters and other groups, Messages from Oz will distribute these individual and unique rays of hope to the people who need them most – true random acts of kindness.

Founder, dreamer and owner of Snap Robina, Dianne White tells us why sending “snail mail” means so much to her.

“I just love receiving hand written, personal mail from family and friends, but in this ever increasing digital world we now find ourselves living in, mail is much rarer than it used to be.”

“It’s such a nice surprise to get personal notes – there’s something so special about that feeling you get from a piece of “snail mail”, that an SMS, online message or email doesn’t give you.”

“The simple joy of receiving something that someone has deliberately taken time to write is such a nice gift.”

Maybe it’s the thought of knowing that we can so easily put a smile on the face of someone we have never even met, but this is a project that we can totally get on board with. This is a random act of kindness with a difference.

The Messages from Oz project makes it so easy, with a choice of two types of predesigned packs available to purchase. You can even purchase a 1, 3, 6 or 12 month package depending on your budget.

Choose from a Letter Project Pack or a Postcard Project Pack. From as little as $12.95, you’ll have all you need to get started. Just add your message/decorate and drop into a post box, and the Messages from Oz project will do the rest. New designs are released each month, making it so easy for people of all ages to get involved.
