December 5, 2013 is International Volunteer Day, a day where the world celebrates people who are acting as agents of change in their communities.

In Robina, 16% of the population report doing some form of voluntary work. Without volunteers, many charitable and community organisations wouldn’t be able to run in Gold Coast City. In honour of International Volunteer Day we have showcased some of the fantastic organisations in Robina where volunteers regularly contribute to our community.

Red Cross Robina Donor Centre

Opening in 2009, the Robina Blood Donor Centre on Robina Town Centre Drive is a donor centre for the Australian Red Cross Blood Service, a division of the Red Cross. The Blood Service’s donor community is built from a strong, ongoing community connection, and relies upon the spirit of volunteerism through both blood donors and community members. Over 550,000 volunteer blood donors sustain the Blood Service and make a significant difference to the lives of others.

Currently, Red Cross Robina are calling for plasma donors. Plasma donations are vital for bone marrow transplants, burn victims and cancer patients. Your plasma donation can make 17 life-saving treatments for those in need.
