GCTA, previously known as Gold Coast Training Academy, was officially opened by re-elected Member for Parliament, Karen Andrews at a twilight cocktail ceremony on Saturday.

With over 200 guests in attendance at the new CBDRobina campus at 69 Laver Drive, GCTA, the longest running beauty school in Gold Coast City, was also celebrating their 3000th graduate from their Diploma of Beauty Therapy.

Attended by students, teachers, parents, alumni, industry partners and the local community in one massive event, the event saw the Gold Coast beauty industry join together celebrating over 27 years of success.

GCTA, recently signed a long-term lease over the whole first floor of 69 Laver, relocating their student body from the original Burleigh Heads campus to the Robina property.

Originally custom-built by Robina Group for the Australian Federal Police and an inspection of the tastefully fitted out premises belies the property’s former use

GCTA Owner, Mrs Sherelle French said, “We are growing rapidly and to maintain our commitment to excellence we needed to upgrade our facilities considerably and transformed the building into a state of the art, custom designed, beauty therapy training facility.”

GCTA is one of the oldest and most respected colleges on the Gold Coast and has been invested in creating exceptional learning experiences for their students.

The new campus is delivering above and beyond expectations.

A current Diploma of Beauty Therapy student said that she chose GCTA because they offered a combined delivery mode which enabled her to study online from home and come into the CBDRobina campus to complete practical blocks.

“Access is easy, I travel to the Robina campus by train from Coomera as it is more cost effective than driving and tackling peak hour traffic.”

The student pointed out, “the new campus is only an easy 5 minute walk from the Robina train station.

“There are many cafes close by to GCTA and Robina Town Centre is just a short walk away across the waterway. Although only I usually have a 30 minute lunch break, I am able to quickly duck over to the Town Centre for some sushi.

“The campus itself is amazing! There is so much natural light which helps when doing treatments. The facilities are all new and the chill out area is perfect for students who just need to have a break.”

On the launch event, Mrs French confirmed it was “not only the official launch of our beautiful building but will also be an opportunity for our community to get together and have some fun with prizes, beauty gift bags and a great social atmosphere.

“It was a great opportunity for networking which is lacking in our local beauty industry community.”

Our student correspondent concurred, “the opening event was great. The college provided everyone who attended with goodie bags filled with samples and supplier information, it was fully catered and beer and wine was provided for guests. It was a fun night full of laughs and I enjoyed myself.”
