New Party Central
Robina and Varsity Lakes have become the Gold Coast’s “party central” with dozens of free, family events to fill out the annual calendar.
Traditional favourites have been revived and refreshed – and a slew of new events give everyone the opportunity to enjoy the outdoors in the company of family and neighbours.
My formula is pretty simple. Residents in our suburbs shouldn’t put up with the traffic and inconvenience to enjoy the same festivities as our coastal cousins.
Whatever you enjoy in Burleigh, Broadbeach and the Southport Broadwater Parklands should be available right here on our doorstep in the heart of the Gold Coast.
The good news for anyone just discovering our events calendar is the best events will kick off in just a few weeks, as we approach the festive season.

Varsity Lakes Summer Fair
Saturday 1 December at Central Park, Varsity Lakes from 2pm.
For a big day of summer fun with carnival rides, a sideshow alley, show bags, free trees, kids’ fun, food trucks, raffles, an outdoor movie screening and more.

Carols by the Lake
Saturday 8 December at Varsity Promenade from 4pm.
For a unique carols by candlelight experience on the waterfront with food trucks, festive stalls, traditional carols, kids’ fun, thrilling entertainment on the water, fireworks, Santa Claus and other guests!

Robina Community Carols and Twilight Markets
Saturday 15 December at Robina State School Oval, Glen Eagles Drive, Robina from 4pm.

Division 11 New Year’s Eve
Monday 31 December at Varsity Promenade, Varsity Lakes from 5.30pm.
For a family-friendly night out with live entertainment and fireworks at 8.30pm.

Mayor’s Christmas Carols
1 December at Broadwater Parklands, Southport from 2.00pm.
Presented by Mercedes-Benz Gold Coast. If you want to venture further afield, you’ll catch Kate Ceberano and Anthony Callea, plus a range of kids’ fun Christmas activities from 2pm. Carols from 5pm.
