Lake Orr-some
I am proud to partner with the Australian Institute of Sport to deliver a world class training facility on Lake Orr. The reconfigurable nine-lane facility will be used by elite athletes for training, and will be open for community use too. It will be a real boon to the local economy and give more locals the opportunity to make more use of this treasured waterway.
About 1500 of the closest households have been invited to share their thoughts during a fortnight-long consultation. https://www.facebook.com/9NewsGoldCoast/videos/10155367273086723/
Free dog registration for Seniors
Gold Coast seniors will no longer have to pay dog registration from fees from July. This initiative will be a major win for those seniors who rely on their furry friends as a companion. Parking debacle
The Varsity Lakes ‘Park and Ride’ is cactus — and the problem is set to get worse with more vehciles forced off the M1. While responsibility for the station and its car park fall to the State Government (not Council), I am speaking up on behalf of Division 11. Council unanimously endorsed my plan to have the State Government open its adjacent land to overflow parking. This has the potential to unlock hundreds of new spaces at little or no cost to the State Government.
