Developer Robina Group has pushed the button on its innovative answer to the office space needs of small to medium businesses at CBDRobina.

Construction works started last week (Aug 5) on the first stage of the $14 million CityPods project which will ultimately offer 15 two-level office buildings fronting Scottsdale Drive.

Robina Group has appointed award-winning Gold Coast City builder Rawcorp to construct the first four pods over the next 20 weeks.

Rawcorp project manager David Walton said the dynamic CityPods project would stand apart from other commercial premises thanks to its striking architecture and innovative building materials.

“We’re using high quality materials, cutting edge building methods and a distinctive colour palette which makes it a departure from a lot of what you see around,” he said.

“There’s been a lot of thought put into these unique designs.”

Rawcorp recently completed Robina Group’s distinctive M1X Energy Centre nearby and also built the developer’s Sidewalk on Scottsdale mixed-use precinct several years ago.

The company picked up a Gold Coast Master Builders’ award earlier this month (August 3) for its new headquarters at Merrimac, which incorporates similar building methods to CityPods.

Robina Group general manager Hylton Slater said CityPods addressed a void in the Gold Coast City office market for small to medium businesses seeking the prestige and exposure that standalone buildings offer.

“CityPods enables these businesses to lease or own their own headquarters, each with strong corporate branding opportunities in a sought-after, high exposure location,” he said.

“The cutting edge designs, featuring polished concrete, timber, exposed steelwork and abundant natural light, set it apart from any other office accommodation in the area.”

CityPods will be developed over four stages and three of the pods will be approved for medical use.

Mr Slater said Stage One, to comprise four pods fronting the busy Scottsdale Drive arterial road, would be completed and available for occupation by the end of this year.

The pods range in size from 163 to 306 sqm and the complex will feature plentiful onsite car parking, including dedicated parking spaces for each office pod and visitors.

Construction on the project coincides with significant activity underway across CBDRobina, including a service station and convenience centre under construction on the 3294 sqm site immediately to the south on Scottsdale Drive.

Sales and leasing enquiries for CityPods are being handled by Marcus Weld, of Robina Marketing Australia.
