This Tuesday 15 July is BOBA day – this cute little acronym represents Baking Our Blues Away, a community organisation committed to raising awareness for depression and anxiety through the sharing of delicious baking.
The idea is simple; take a little time out to get creative in the kitchen, bake up some goodness and share with someone who needs some cheer in their life. It could be a friend, a new mum, a stranger, a family member or a work colleague and they could be experiencing depression, anxiety, illness, loss or simply a tough day, week, month or year.
There’s a lot to be said for the age-old tradition of baked offerings and it’s more than just chowing down on bikkies or scones, it’s symbolic of care, love and value. BOBA is the opportunity to show someone they are valued by taking the time to bake something yummy for them.
Proudly supporting national mental health organisation Beyond Blue, Baking Our Blues Away is a simple yet clever initiative to help raise awareness and gather community support for mental illness.
Visit the BOBA website where you can access and share recipes or tell your story of how your baked goodness is going to be the afternoon delight of someone’s day.
Jump on social media and join the conversation – visit BOBA’s facebook page, register for the event and share baking success stories and funny fails on Facebook, Instagram and Twitter. Use the hashtags #bakingourbluesaway #bakesharecare and #bobacakefail
