Airport Consultancy Group has opened a new headquarters in CBDRobina, after purchasing an office in Robina Group’s $14 million CityPods development.

The design and construction management company, which specialises in airport pavement engineering, has moved into the new dual-level stand-alone CityPod, which measures 164sqm.

The company, which was established in 2010, employs nine staff. Airport Consultancy Group Project Director Craig Halliday said the business had a growing clientele of councils, Department of Defence and private developers.

The largest project the Group is currently completing is the new green-field international airport just outside Toowoomba – Wellcamp Airport, also known as Brisbane West Airport.

“That is a major job that we will be working on opening in late 2014, with Airport Consultancy Group the pavement design engineers and construction quality managers for the new facility,” said Mr Halliday.

“We have a number of other projects in the pipeline and, while to this point our staff have been working in different locations, including interstate, the growth of the business means we now require a central office to come together as a team.”

Mr Halliday said Airport Consultancy Group had selected CityPods because of its accessibility and location at the geographical heart of Gold Coast City. “The office space appearance is in line with our professional service, New and Inspirational,” he said.

“It is close to the motorway, the railway and major shops, so everything is in easy reach, and the style and layout of the CityPods is unlike anything else available, providing us with the opportunity to step straight into a new headquarters.”

The sale was negotiated by Frank Princz, principal of Century 21 Princz Property Group.

The first eight stand alone offices, which range from 163sqm to 304sqm, were completed early this year in the CityPods development, situated on Scottsdale Drive, with a further seven to be built this year.

National medical device distribution specialist Pyramed now operates from the precinct, while private investors Peter and Dianne Lehninger recently secured an office in the project. CityPods is located near Easy T, Robina Town Centre, the Queensland Health Hub, Robina Automall and Cbus Super Stadium.

Robina Group general manager Hylton Slater said the response to CityPods had been strong, particularly from small to medium sized businesses.

“We identified the underlying demand for stand-alone offices and designed CityPods to suit,” he said.

“It is unlike anything else on the market, offering businesses the chance to move straight into a new headquarters with good street frontage and extensive branding, and the response to date reaffirms our belief in the need for such a design.

“The dual levels provide two areas for different uses, with the ground level ideal for showcasing products or examples of work to customers, or as a waiting room, while the upper level can be utilised for office space.

“The interior features an open plan layout, with quality finishes including polished concrete floors, a concrete and timber reception desk and feature timber staircase, but has been kept minimal, so it can be tailored to suit.”

Mr Slater said the location in CBDRobina was also drawing interest from those wanting a central base in a modern commercial, retail and residential precinct. “A recent study found 86 per cent of Gold Coast City’s population live within a 20 minute drive, meaning it is easy for customers and staff to get to – and just as easy for staff to go to meetings and conduct business elsewhere,” he said.

“Because it is a relatively new precinct, commercial and retail space in the area is modern and has attracted established, well performing industries like medical, education, retail and sport. “With an office vacancy rate of just 6.1 per cent, compared to the Gold Coast City’s overall vacancy rate of 16.7 per cent, it is also an area businesses have confidence in.”
