Artistic display
Be inspired by the best new Australian artworks this month when the prestigious d’Arcy Doyle Art Awards and Exhibition comes to Mudgeeraba. The exhibition runs for just 12 days from Wednesday 27 June until Sunday 8 July as this longstanding art show continues providing an avenue for a new generation of artists to display their talents.
The d’Arcy Doyle Art Awards is a non-profit organisation established to honour d’Arcy Doyle, a prominent Australian landscape and historical painter who lived locally in Mudgeeraba. Now in its 14th year, a win at the d’Arcy Doyle Awards has proven to be a valuable stepping stone in any artist’s career, and there is no doubt that the calibre of artworks on display will be some of the most impressive in the country.
Mudgeeraba Memorial Hall will host this outstanding exhibit of Australian art, most famous for its landscape category in honour of d’Arcy Doyle. The winner of this category will take home $13,000, making it the richest landscape art prize in Australia. Other award categories include still life, portrait figures and people’s choice, with what will undoubtedly be a stunning display honouring the legacy of d’Arcy Doyle’s timeless and quintessentially Australian Art.
Junior d’Arcy Doyle Art Awards
Young Australian artists will also exhibit in the Junior d’Arcy Doyle Awards, showcasing some of the best junior talents in the country right now. The high standard of children’s art has stunned judges in previous years, and with over 400 quality paintings for sale throughout the exhibit (including the Junior entries), buyers will have a rare opportunity to purchase an artwork from an up and coming artist.
Added Attractions
The Gold Coast Spinners and Weavers have joined the exhibition by ‘yarn-bombing’ the trees in the Mudgeeraba shopping precinct this year! Art lovers will enjoy stage entertainment and live artists in action as part of the art show, bringing a festival-feel to the entire Mudgeeraba Village. Don’t miss this extraordinary cultural event right on our doorstep!
