Let’s talk recognition
In 2017, 27 May represented a significant anniversary in Australian history. It was the 60th anniversary of the change in our constitution to give Indigenous people more rights, including the right to vote.
Prior to this Indigenous Australians were not counted in the Census, however the referendum in 1957 saw Australia’s most overwhelming vote, with over 90% voting yes.
This week National Reconciliation Week is designed to pay tribute to the incredible legacy we have here in Australia of our traditional owners and their resilience.
