Coffee lovers of the Gold Coast rejoice
Yes! You read correctly: that infamous big name you know and love in coffee is at it again, bringing sexy (coffee) back once more to our neck of the woods.
Soon, residents in the central corridor of the Gold Coast won’t have to travel far to get their Starbucks coffee or frappuccino. Oh and the muffins and famous peach tea are delectable too.
We all know what went down a few years ago with a number of stores closing following the GFC. Rather than harp on the losses, we are pleased to see Starbucks is learning from one of its past mistakes of opening too many stores too quickly.
The chain is now slowly introducing new stores with the next one on the Gold Coast to open at Robina Town Centre in April 2017. That’s next month!
This new store – the first to be opening in a shopping centre on the Gold Coast – will complement the existing stores found in Surfers Paradise and Broadbeach.
Starbucks is the most successful coffee chain in the world with more than 18,000 stores in 62 countries. It opened its first store in Australia 17 years ago and, after a number of closures in 2014, just 22 remained open. Despite this, the American coffee giant is responsible for introducing a new cafe lifestyle (and a casual people watching culture) to our shores – which was popular then and still is today – having been copied by many since.
Taking another shot at the Australian market, Starbucks has partnered with The Withers Group (a multinational which runs 7-Eleven) to rebuild the brand in Australia.
Where to find Starbucks, Robina
You’ll find the new Starbucks next to The Body Shop on Level 3 of Robina Town Centre.
We look forward to seeing you there!
