Another top mark for Robina … THE destination for education
A string of recent news articles highlights this central Gold Coast destination as the “go-to” place for education providers, including TAFE (under construction, pictured above) and a new private school (recently completed, pictured above – scroll down for more).
Gold Coast development: Eco-friendly TAFE campus for Robina site
Robina’s education sector is receiving a $10 million boost, with the commencement of a new eco-friendly TAFE campus. The new TAFE will cater for the city’s central and southern population, and is scheduled to be completed by February 2022.
The new TAFE is being built on the corner of Laver Drive and Robina Town Centre Drive in Robina (close to Robina Train Station and Robina Hospital) to help students gain skills for jobs of the future. The Robina campus aims to be Australia’s leading sustainable Vocation Education Training campus.
The building’s design will allow for solar power generation and cutting-edge recycling, and the site, surrounded by public transport, will provide 30 carparking bays, and end-of-trip facilities, making students access to the TAFE accessible to all.
Minister for Training and Skills development Shannon Fentiman said the investment in the new campus was part of the $100 million TAFE infrastructure commitment announced recently by the Labor Government.
“We’re a government who are invested in the Gold Coast with future proofing infrastructure, like our schools and now our TAFE system. It’s exciting people from the Gold Coast won’t have to travel to get world class training facilities,” she said.
The campus will sit on Alceon Queensland’s Acuity Business Park, adjacent to Metricon’s new headquarters, opposite The Rocket and just minutes from Bond University.
Alceon project director Paul Huston said the new campus would take Robina to the next level as a business and educational hub.
“It’s showing that Robina is really maturing as a centralised location of the Gold Coast for business and community training activities,” he said.
“Robina is a growth precinct and also very much becoming an educational hub due to its central location and easy access to transport and arterial links.”
A ten-year lease and option has secured this prime Robina location for TAFE Queensland. The NettletonTribe Architects designed building will be 7,600 sqm over five storeys and is reported to be generating 196 jobs during construction and approximately 629 full-time jobs once completed.
The campus will be walking distance to: Robina Town Centre; Robina Train Station; Robina’s Medical Hub; and Robina Group’s recently completed VUE Terrace Homes project, where the final completed homes are now selling from $629,000.
‘Futuristic’ new private school campus ready for 300 students
Building works have finished at Arcadia College’s new $11.4million Robina campus and it even includes a three storey rock climbing wall, indoor basketball court and music recording studio.
Construction is now complete on the three level 3,000 sqm facility on Centreline Place. It will cater to 300 students in Years 7 to 12 when it opens next year.
Exceptional facilities also include a student wellbeing centre, IT hub and playground. These facilities, designed to provide a futuristic learning environment will nurture student creativity, inclusion and wellbeing. Award-winning Gold Coast architects Burling Brown designed the progressive private learning facility, which attracted $5.5million in federal and state government funding.
The new education facility is adjacent to Robina Train Station, and a short walk to Vue Terrace Homes, where the final 3 bedroom plus media terrace homes are now selling from $629,000.
