Bleach Festival 2018 visits Mudgeeraba this month with ‘Truth to Power Café’, a unique theatrical experience originating from London Artists Projects in the UK

A participatory performance curated by London theatre producer, writer and performer Jeremy Goldstein, Truth to Power Café presents six participants of different ages, beliefs and backgrounds before a live audience with five minutes each to respond to the question, “Who has power over you, and what do you want to say to them?”

The outcome has been compelling and often deeply political, with the project receiving international acclaim for its exploration into the power of free speech. The Guardian UK has called Truth to Power Café “the revolutionary potential of theatre at its best and most direct”.

Jeremy Goldstein travelled to the Gold Coast for the first time last year on a research trip for Bleach Festival 2018. Speaking with The Weekend Edition Gold Coast, Jeremy said, “Ultimately I like to think of the show as a chance to express your true self, become the person you’ve always wanted to be, and say what you’ve always wanted to say. It’s cathartic, thrilling, and something only live theatre can do.”

Bringing Truth to Power Café to Australia, Jeremy Goldstein has cast local guests from all walks of life to participate in what has been called an empowering and inspiring experience for those participating and attending.

You are invited to celebrate the great Australian hero in all of us through the power of free speech and political activism when Truth to Power comes to Mudgeeraba Memorial Hall on April 14, 2018 at 6:30pm!

It’s a free event, but you’ll need to register for tickets online at bleachfestival.com.au to guarantee your seats. Don’t miss out!
