Dim Sums and delightful food and service
If the measure of a good restaurant is the crowd it draws, then Dim Sum Delights is clearly doing something right.
The restaurant itself is unassuming and low key in its presentation but the humble surroundings belie what is on offer; Dim Sum Delights delivers where it really counts – with good quality food and friendly service.
Located on Ron Penhaligan Way in Robina, Dim Sum Delights serves Cantonese-style Yum Cha for lunch and dinner six days a week (Tuesday to Sunday), with a selection of beer and wine, and the option to BYO.
Since opening its doors in 2011 it has developed a large and loyal following, with crowds of people regularly filling both the inside restaurant and al fresco area, especially at lunch time on Sunday.
As soon as you open the extensive menu, it is not hard to see why.
All the Yum Cha favourites are covered; san choy bow, sweet and sour pork, dumplings, pork buns, along with a vast variety of seafood dishes. We decided to try the steamed satay calamari and it did not disappoint, the produce tasted fresh, it was soft and tender and the satay was a flavoursome accompaniment.
The san choy bow, which is the measure of any good Yum Cha menu, was definitely a standout. The generous portions were wrapped in fresh lettuce, the meat was tender and came topped with crispy noodles. The result was a satisfying fusion of taste and texture with just the right amount of crunch, flavour and freshness.
We also sampled the deep fried sesame balls and barbeque pork pastry and we rounded out the meal with sweet and sour pork (another must-do on any Chinese menu!), stuffed eggplant, cashew and pork dumplings, and steamed pork buns.
Dim Sum Delights has plenty on offer for dessert as well and the Hong Kong-style egg custard tarts in particular were a hit at our table. Served warm and encased in a light and flaky pastry, these little delights have a subtle and balanced sweetness that were the perfect sweet treat to finish the meal.
There were so many dishes we wanted to try but we will save these for our next visit, which based on how impressed we were will be very soon!
A quick look at TripAdvisor shows we’re not the only ones to rate Dim Sum Delights highly, with the restaurant coming in a very respectable sixth out of 96 restaurants in Robina.
If traditional fare, friendly-service, sharing with friends, and a bustling atmosphere is your style, then Dim Sum Delights is worth a visit in our books.
