Growing vegetables and a strong community

Robina Group have just put the finishing touches on the Robina Community Garden and, along with Division 11 Councillor Hermann Vorster, we are now calling on the residents of Robina to come and get involved!

Located in the public parkland space of Robina Group’s project Botanique Terrace Homes, the community garden is a way for Robina residents to grow their own fresh veggies while growing strong connections with fellow residents.

Community gardens are the backbone of many communities around the world and with people becoming more conscious of the benefits of eating organic, an increasing number are popping up in urban spaces.

All Robina locals are welcome to become a part of the Robina Community Garden, you don’t have to live in Botanique Terrace Homes to join in and you don’t need to be a green thumb either!  Gardeners of every level or just enthusiastic participants can take part!

Robina Division 11 Councillor Hermann Vorster says the community garden is a sustainable concept that will bring people together.

“It’s a fantastic way to grow organic food, meet the locals and expand your knowledge of gardening – all while keeping fit and enjoying the outdoors,” he said.

“There is nothing more rewarding than seeing the fruits of your own labour and being able to take it home to enjoy with your family.

“Gardening is a great social exercise – the community can work together, problem-solve, track progress and eventually see the results.

“It’s a nice feeling knowing you can take home fresh, organic produce you have contributed to growing.”

Robina Group Development Manager Darrell Irwin says the garden will be of significant benefit to the Robina community.

“The garden doesn’t discriminate – it is a melting pot of community members and a universal hobby that is good for you and good for the environment,” he said.

“It’s an ideal spot to enjoy the sunshine and the great outdoors, while bonding and having a closer connection to nature.

“Sharing knowledge between gardening enthusiasts will bring the community closer and allow locals to form tight-knit bonds that can extend beyond the garden.

“Gardening is known to have a myriad of health benefits, which will carry over to the kitchen with the food cultivated. It’s also a positive reaction to spending too much time indoors or on technology.”

So whether you have limited space for your own veggie patch, you have always wanted to enjoy a garden of your own, or you just love the idea of enjoying social interaction with your neighbourhood then come and be a part of this special community initiative.

Gardening experts will help maintain the space and ensure all of the veggies have the right care to flourish and be on your table in no time!

The community garden will be host to several events including fresh harvest feasts and recipe swap meetings.

Located at the end of Botanique Terrace, off Cheltenham Drive in Robina, Robina Community Garden is surrounded by parklands and easily accessible for both vehicles and pedestrians.
