Titans turn 10
It has been a decade since the Gold Coast Titans ran out on the field in their National Rugby League (NRL) debut, taking on St George Illawarra in-front of a 42,000-strong crowd.
Gold Coasters rallied behind their long-awaited local team during the 2007 season, with the club achieving the second-highest average attendance of all NRL clubs that year.
Starting off at Carrara Stadium, the Gold Coast Titans made the move to CBUS Super Stadium, here in Robina, in 2008 and haven’t looked back. Today, the team has played 244 games in the Telstra Premiership.
In celebration the decade-milestone, the Aquis Gold Coast Titans Chair, Rebecca Frizelle, and Chief Executive Officer, Graham Annesley, will host a special 10 Year Anniversary Gala Ball on Saturday, 8 July at RACV Royal Pines.
Kicking off from 7pm, the glamorous event is the night to dress to the nines in your best ball gown or stylish suit in celebration of the achievement of the Gold Coast squad.
The night will also provide an opportunity for the Gold Coast community to select its ‘team of the decade’, who will play in Round 14 on Saturday, 10 June, at the Aquis Gold Coast Titans’ Robina home ground.
The team will be hand-picked by its supporters via an online voting system.
Presented by Audi Centre Gold Coast, the gala ball will include a three course meal, with beverages, stage and silent auctions, along with live entertainment throughout the night.
Former Newcastle Knights and New South Wales rugby league player Matty Johns will MC the night.
Tickets are on sale now, with a table of 10 available for $2,300 and a single ticket $235.
