Enjoy the Three Rs of Literature: Read, wRite, Relax
The annual Somerset Celebration of Literature returns on the 15th to the 17th of March with the popular three day festival boasting ticket sales exceeding 20,000 in previous years.
This significant cultural event extends far beyond Somerset College and Mudgeeraba to include the whole Gold Coast community.
With over 30 acclaimed authors from around Australia at the festival holding interactive sessions and workshops across almost 120 events for both children and adults, there’s plenty of edutainment for everyone.
Meet authors and illustrators and have your books signed while enjoying this event dedicated to reading and writing.
The festival kicks off with the Prologue Party, a free community event for the whole family with fireworks, activities for children, street performers, authors, fairy floss, Dippin’ Dots ice cream and plenty more.
Adults can enjoy the signature Literary Lunch event on Thursday which allows devoted book readers to join an author who writes about emotional and controversial topics for a book-club style discussion.
Also on the schedule is a Literary Long Table dinner event which sees the patrons, authors, sponsors and members of the literary world joining forces to celebrate literature.
You’ll hear from highly regarded literary speakers and guests to new authors. Past events have included speakers such as Markus Zusak, Wendy Harmer, William McInnes and Peter FitzSimons. A must for all literary fans.
For standard sessions, tickets are just $7.00 (inclusive of GST) per person per session.
