Welcome to another update from division 11 for April.
Anzac Day in Robina
Thank you to everyone who participated in Anzac commemorations.
I want to pay particular tribute to the Mudgeeraba Robina RSL Sub-branch who were actively involved in arrangements.
Our local event could not have happened without their involvement along with the Robina Lions, Robina Red Cross, the Gold Coast Philharmonic Orchestra, Gold Coast Tweed Pipes and Drums, Coastal Charisma and the Anglican Church Robina.
Lest We Forget.
Lone Pine Park
I was shocked and saddened to see a Lone Pine left to die in one of our local parks; it was neglected for years!
Our Anzacs deserve better so I have made sure this local war memorial properly recognises their service to our Nation.
Its home, an anonymous park on Cheltenham Drive, has been renamed Lone Pine Park. And work will soon get underway on a sandstone memorial in the park itself.
Day on the Greens at Club Robina
Join us on Sunday 28 May from 12pm to 4pm for an afternoon of FREE family fun at Club Robina.
Stay entertained all afternoon with music, kid’s activities, fun with Sparky Do Dah, barefoot bowls, a community barbecue, lucky door prize and free ice-blocks for the kids. Take to the greens with friends and family for social games of bowls for a chance to win some prizes!
For those wanting to sit back and relax, Club Robina’s Bistro is open from 12pm to 2pm and the bar from 11am to 7pm.
Visit the Facebook event for details and invite your friends and family to a wonderful community club.
See you there!
Robina Common
Check out the new sign that is now up at Robina Common! Our local sporting clubs have deserved better for so long.
Support for our local heroes
I was delighted to join Gold Coast Neighbourhood Watch to present our Robina Volunteers in Policing with a $1500 cheque.
These divisional funds will purchase a new laptop and projector to run more community safety evenings in our community.
Design a bookmark for GC2018
Get excited because the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games™ is next year! To mark the exciting milestone, City Libraries wants you to design a bookmark celebrating everything you love about the Gold Coast. 12 designs will be selected to print as collectible bookmarks, releasing one each month, up to the start of GC2018 next April.
They are looking for a wide range of original designs for these mini works of art, from paintings to graphics, photography to calligraphy.
The 12 chosen bookmarks will go into a draw to win a prize pack of official GC2018 merchandise, worth more than $300 – with designs also published on the City Libraries website.
For terms and conditions and an entry form, visit the City Libraries website.
