Three’s Company

Sunkids Children’s Centres has just opened its third facility in Robina, a $4 million ultra-modern facility set to cater to the high demand for places in the central Gold Coast.

The brand new centre is the third the company has opened in Robina in as many years, with its two existing facilities on Scottsdale Drive, both operating virtually at capacity.

Sunkids has a fourth Gold Coast centre in neighbouring Burleigh Waters, with a total of 14 centres operating under the banner across South East Queensland.

It acquired the 2,302sqm site on Stadium Drive in CBDRobina for the latest facility in March 2017 and has just finished construction of the 1,300sqm purpose-built centre, which will offer 102 places from nursery through to kindergarten.

Sunkids Children’s Centres executive officer Reyhaan Omar said its continued investment in CBDRobina was due to strong on-going demand, with parents already lining up to view the new centre this week ahead of the opening.

“The new centre features an ultra-modern design, which is in-line with our existing facilities and in particular our largest facility on Scottsdale Drive, which opened less than two years ago,” he said.

“It will include six rooms, plus a sleep room for our nursery, and a large nature-inspired playground, along with a fully-licensed kitchen for gourmet meals.

“Our other two centres in Robina are near capacity, with one completely full and the other operating at 94 per cent, so we expect these new places to fill quickly.”

Mr Omar said the prime location of the new centre would make it convenient for parents working in the CBDRobina business hub, which is home to a workforce of more than 20,000 people, along with Robina’s 30,000 strong population.

“The location close to Robina Train Station and Robina’s health hub, including the public and private hospitals, is ideal for parents dropping their children off before heading to work, including those commuting via rail to Brisbane” he said.

“It is also close to a large established residential population and opposite the new Vue Terrace Homes, which will be home to hundreds of new residents in the coming years.

“There is a significant need for childcare in the area and strong interest in this new centre, with Sunkids renowned for delivering a fantastic standard of care.”

Robina Group general manager Hylton Slater said the Stadium Village precinct was one of the fastest growing in CBDRobina, with its prime central location appealing to businesses and residents.

“Work is now in full swing on our Vue Terrace Homes community, which has already achieved more than $64 million in sales,” he said.

“We have settled five parcels of land in Stadium Village in the past year, including recent sales to Melbourne-based developer, Pellicano, for a new multi-level development, and a Sydney buyer who is purpose-building a new Anytime Fitness club.

“Across the board, the location close to the hospitals and train station, along with Robina Town Centre, CBDRobina’s business hub, Cbus Super Stadium and the ease of access to the M1 Motorway, is appealing.

“The availability of development-ready parcels in such an amenity-rich location in Gold Coast City is extremely rare, and following the recent $17 million run of sales the opportunities in CBDRobina are becoming even more scarce.”
