We are all guilty of wasting perfectly good food – you buy that packet of salad or bag of carrots on a day when you feel like a healthy fresh vegetable detox week is just what you need but through the week opt instead for easier, ready-made meals, or end up eating out.  By the time you end up going to make a salad, you instead have a liquefying science experiment inhabiting your vegie crisper.

Thankfully, our friends at OzHarvest are coming to Robina next week to help teach us all how to be more aware of our wastage and give us some amazing tips on using up all of our food, up cycling and composting.

OzHarvest are Australia’s most active and effective food rescue charity and as part of the national Think.Eat.Save day they will be focused on opening our eyes to the impact our wasting ways is truly having on both our planet and our pockets.

Each year 4 million tonnes of food is wasted in Australia with an estimated cost of $20 billion and approximately half of that comes from households.

20% of our groceries end up in the bin costing the average Aussie family $3,800 each year.

To help you reduce your household foodprint, OzHarvest are hosting a Think.Eat.Save day event at The Kitchens in Robina on Monday 24th July.

The Think.Eat.Save campaign is a United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) initiative aimed at raising awareness about food waste and helping the general public to make changes in their lives to help combat this issue.

OzHarvest is the official partner of UNEP for Think.Eat.Save in Australia and provides easy tips and tools to help reduce your food waste at home or at work.
