Artist Showcase: Raku O’Gaia
Enjoy smooth tunes this June when our feature artist Raku One O’Gaia takes the stage. A soulman at heart, Raku is easily distinguished by his brand of bluesy-folk, and you can catch his feel-good vibes at The Promenade on Friday 29th June from 5 pm.
Raku’s sound is a blend of contemporary and old-school influences. Merging soul, blues and gospel, Raku’s performances are multifaceted and can incorporate acoustic guitar, harmonica, slide guitar and assorted percussion, not to mention Raku’s most discernible instrument: his soulful voice.
Raku is an independent artist who is making his mark in the music industry, having performed with Xavier Rudd, John Butler, Paul Kelly and also opening for Ash Grunwald. Raku most recently toured with Kasey Chambers in April 2018, after she serendipitously spotted him busking the streets of Tamworth during the Country Music Festival in January. After inviting him to play a few songs with her on stage, Kasey asked Raku to join part of her tour, and he happily accepted the opportunity!
Based on the Northern Rivers, Raku is no stranger to the local area. He was a featured artist at the 2017 Blues on Broadbeach Festival, following appearances at Woodford Folk Festival, Tamworth Country Music Festival, Byron Blues Festival and more recently bringing his upbeat sounds to the 2018 Bleach Festival here on the Gold Coast.
Enjoy this local talent while he’s performing close to home in the relaxed environment of Robina Promenade this month!
- Raku O’Gaia will take The Promenade stage from 5pm to 8pm on Friday 29th June.
