Market delight
CBDRobina is set to play host to popular roving market The Design Collective this month, further adding to the entertainment and community events on offer in the fast-growing area.
The Design Collective have rounded up their favourite market stall and gourmet food vendors and will bring their signature vintage caravan live music stage to CBDRobina on the 15th of December.
The ‘Robina Night Market Gathering’ events will be held on a future development site owned by developer Robina Group, located at the corner of Stadium Drive and Cheltenham Drive, Robina.
Division 11 Councillor Hermann Vorster says he can think of no location better suited to hosting the community event than CBDRobina.
“We have a great base of long term locals here who love getting behind community events and Robina is extremely easy to get for Gold Coasters outside the area,” said Mr Vorster.
“It’s a great opportunity for Robina and the wider community to get together for fun, food and music as we head into the festive season, whilst also showing support for the local, family-run market vendors,” he said.
“The Robina site offered up by Robina Group offers visitors off street parking plus a range of public transport links.”
After hosting a series of markets at Robina State School and on the Varsity Lakes foreshore, The Design Collective discovered a great desire for more markets from local residents with co-founder Kat Creasey saying CBDRobina is an area they’d like to anchor in.
“There has been great feedback from locals following our past events in Robina, they love the gourmet food on offer and the community vibe our markets encourage and everyone is always asking when the next one will be” said Ms Creasey.
“People love meeting up with friends, running into their neighbours fellow locals, catching up with people from school and watching their kids play with friends and the relaxed environment brings the community together in ways other events don’t.”
“We would love to bring more events to the area but it is all based on demand, so if you want to see these become a regular fixture make sure you show your support by coming along”
The Design Collective markets pride themselves on selecting the best gourmet vendors and pairing vegan, gluten-free and organic dietary requirements with inspiring international flavours such as wood-fired Mexican and slow-cooked Spanish. This is all brought together in a communal street food environment of long tables and lounge settings with colourful bunting and fairy lights.
“We love to create a fantastic, vintage environment with colour, music and lighting. The centrepiece of our events is our performance stage which is a converted vintage caravan. The live music and bright lights draw people in to the dining zone and the relaxed seating encourages people to take the time to sit and enjoy the atmosphere,” said Ms Creasey.
“Our events are very family friendly, we have special food options for kids and a jumping castle and face painter. We want families to embrace our events as an outing that everyone will enjoy.”
Entry to the Robina Night Market Gathering is free, with live music entertainment, market stalls offering craft, vintage and handmade items ideal for Christmas gifts.
