Seeds of Life – Nature’s Goodness

This a Robina business oozing with authenticity.  Purveyors of the highest quality, organic baked goods, Seeds of Life fulfil a gap in the market for real, nourishing foods free of the nasties found in most commercially produced products.

All products created by Seeds of Life are gluten free, paleo, vegan, chemical free, preservative free, pesticide free, grain free, diary free, egg free, yeast free, sugar free, GMO free and there are nut and coconut free options available.

If you’re reading that list and wondering ‘how can there be any taste left?’ that’s where Seeds of Life have really struck a winning formula.  Their products are packed with activated, organic seeds, fruit, plants and superfood prebiotics such as cacao, beetroot and turmeric.  They use a range of the highest quality flours such as banana or coconut, which give their products a gorgeous texture and melt-in-your-mouth softness.

I have to say that as a coeliac I was very excited the first time I saw the Seeds of Life pop-up stall at Robina Town Centre – a whole table of delicious looking baked goods which were all gluten free!

A free taste test of each product – yes please!  Every single one of the freshly made samples was delicious, brimming with live, activated and organic ingredients.  The sticky date pudding in particular was just next-level heaven.  There is a reason it is a best seller!

Just one slice of these amazing breads is a meal in itself, you don’t need to eat much because it is so nutrient dense and filling.  My current favourite is the Rainbow Loaf. I like to cut a slice and heat it up in a sandwich press – adding a fresh topping of avocado, tomato and rocket to the warm slice makes a satisfying lunch to see you through well into the afternoon.

When you suffer with food allergies, finding foods that are safe to eat can be a minefield and many gluten free products are packed with loads of sugar and preservatives.  If you have an immune system that fights against certain foods, putting additional strain on your digestive system with the toxins in additives and preservatives adds to the suffering and struggle to maintain good health.

A modern diet, high in processed foods packed with preservatives, chemical additives and sugar, is eroding our health.  However, when you enter any supermarket, the aisles are packed with heavily processed and refined products, so they are difficult to avoid.

Seeds of Life founders, husband and wife team Pete and Heidi Wiltshire, began their journey into baking when Heidi was diagnosed with a host of debilitating food allergies.  They came to realise that consuming any processed food at all was now out of the question for Heidi.  With very few high quality food options on the market that Heidi could tolerate, they began experimenting with baking their own plant based bread substitutes.

Heidi started writing about her journey back to health on a Facebook page called ‘I’m in Repair’ and many group members were interested to find out more about their baked goods and how they were improving her health.

This made Heidi and Pete realise what a huge demand there was for this type of product and they began to produce their own premixes for people to bake at home.

Pete and Heidi are extremely passionate about the products they create and have invested a lot of time perfecting their recipes and they offer a personal guarantee that all their products are made from the freshest Australian-only organic ingredients.

After finding out how much people loved their breads and cookies, they decided to open a pop-up stall when The Kitchens opened at Robina Town Centre.  Their popularity continued to soar and they have now opened a permeant bakery and retail store at The Kitchens.

If you haven’t yet been into Seeds of Life you must put it on your list for your next trip to The Kitchens.  You can try all of the products before you buy to work out what you like best and all of the loaves are available in either a small or large size.  As well as the amazing bread substitute loaves there are delicious cookies, muffins, wraps, crackers, energy balls and even a Vegemite substitute called EveryMite.

Seeds of Life are taking orders for their Christmas puddings which are available with or without nuts.  Gorgeously wrapped in a muslin cloth and decorated, the puddings make the perfect gift to take to a Christmas Day lunch but you must get your order in soon.

Christmas time doesn’t need to be a time of year when we completely throw away our good habits.  Feed yourself and your family nutrient-rich foods that won’t upset your body’s natural balance and which will curb sugar cravings.  Made with love from the Wiltshire family, give your family the gift of wholesome food that is good for their body.

Coffee Mumma – helping parents enjoy their coffees in peace while also helping to save the planet!

Belinda Meginley and her husband have been long term Robina residents who have always enjoyed getting out to cafes around the Gold Coast.  Once they became parents they found that dropping in at any old cafe was no longer a reality and began hunting out child-friendly cafes where they could all go.  And as every parent knows, there is a fairly long checklist of attributes that a cafe needs to have to qualify as child-friendly; easy pram access, kids meals that are a good size and price, babychinos on the menu, nothing too breakable, toilets close by and of course the most important, staff that are happy to welcome the little people in our lives.

After spending a lot of time researching cafes online before attempting them with small fry in tow, Belinda saw an opportunity to create an authoritative online source detailing the child-friendly features all Gold Coast’s cafes and the Coffee Mumma blog was born.

Now all Gold Coast parents have a go-to source of information to peruse before they even step out the door.  Stay in bed for an extra ten minutes doing your cafe research on a single website (even if a small person is climbing on your head) so you know before you load the family in the car exactly what to expect.

Belinda has done the hard work for you, checking out hundreds of cafes to review them for their child-friendliness.  On the Coffee Mumma website, you’ll find reviews of cafes across the Gold Coast with as much information as possible to help equip parents with everything they need to have a successful outing with the little ones.

Let’s face it, cafes can be boring for kids but if they know they’re going to get an all-important babychino with a marshmallow on the side then just them out of the house and into the car becomes a lot easier.

With this in mind, Belinda spoke to cafe owners about whether they would be happy to give away a free babychino to visitors who discovered the cafe through her blog and social media accounts.  She then set up the Coffee Mumma VIP club, which gives members a Coffee Mumma keyring – flashing the keyring gets members a free babychino at over 85 Gold Coast cafes!

During her exhaustive cafe research Belinda became increasingly aware of the environmental impact she was having every time she ordered a takeaway coffee in a disposable cup and she decided to create her own reusable coffee mug.  The branded mugs also entitle you to a free babychino at the same cafes and at only $20 each, they pay for themselves after just a few cafe stops!

Belinda says Robina in particular has a great range of cafes, which are all easygoing and welcoming to families. We asked Belinda to give us her Robina cafe recommendations in a previous insideR edition. You can read about Belinda’s top picks here.

Along with the informative reviews on the Coffee Mumma website, sorted by suburb, there is a monthly newsletter and mummy meet ups you can sign up for.

To celebrate the first day of our 12 Days of Christmas promotion, Coffee Mumma has chipped in a Coffee Mumma VIP reusable mug valued at $20 to go with our Seeds of Life Christmas Cake.  The VIP Mug entitles you to free babychinos at over 85 local Gold Coast cafes.  We will also be adding one of these beauties to our Day 12 major prize hamper worth over $1,000.
