In September this year, a team of students from Robina’s King’s College will travel to the Philippines to work with local communities there and provide aid to those less fortunate.

Previous groups who have been on the annual expedition have helped the local community by assisting with food preparation, feeding children, medical care, church services and any other tasks as required.

Poverty is a critical social problem in the Philippines and medical supplies are scarce in the impoverished areas that the students will visit. As part of the trip, students will purchase and deliver medical supplies for these communities to use, including vaccinations, bandages, basic medical equipment and dental supplies.

This is done working alongside with World International Ministries in Manila to improve the lives of local people.

Takuya Luckett is one of a group of students selected by King’s Christian College to take part in this annual endeavour.

“I have the privilege to be a part of the Philippines Mission trip team,” he said.  “I am looking forward to being part of a highly regarded and important team, seeing first-hand just what life is like in the Philippines and especially making a difference to people less fortunate than myself.”

Students taking part in the trip stand to gain strengthened leadership, problem-solving, and communication skills. Horizon-broadening overseas trips such as these, taken during the formative secondary school years are known to make students more adaptable, open-minded, patient and tolerant, with the ultimate aim is that they will be more likely to become leaders who are able to bridge cultural divides and develop effective global solutions to universal problems.

The trip spans 10 days and students are required to raise the funds necessary for the cost of flights and medical supplies. Kings College sees the fundraising component as an important part of the overall real-world experience.

Takuya is looking for local businesses and individuals to support his fundraising efforts.  “I would love for you to partner with me into making this trip a reality. Even a small amount of money will make a huge difference!”

Robina Group has gotten behind Takuya’s efforts to help those in need in the Philippines, providing a contribution to get him on his way, and we encourage others to also get involved.

If you’d like to contribute for the remaining amount, visit his gofundme page here.
