School holiday activities for the kids:

The summer school holidays is the perfect time to wind down, spend time with family and have fun together as one year ends and another begins.

But it can also be a time when school holiday boredom sets in.  To keep the kids entertained right through to the start of the school semester, we have created a list of affordable activities in Robina that will ensure your sanity to that first school drop off!

Enhance your culinary skills at Icon Cooking School

If you’re looking for something a little bit different these school holidays, take the kids down to the newly opened Icon Cooking School in The Kitchens at Robina Town Centre for a fun, hands on experience.

You can enjoy creative bonding time with your little people over a three-hour cooking session, where you’ll become master chefs of pizza and pasta, pastries, cakes and desserts.

You’ll learn new kitchen skills, chat about food preparation and practice new cooking techniques and table etiquette (just another bonus if table manners in your house could use a little added finesse!) throughout the class.

Bookings are essential. Classes are recommended for kids 10 years and older.

Jump on a bike

Sometimes it’s the simple things in life that are the most rewarding and there is nothing quite like getting outdoors to burn off energy with the kids.

Robina is an outdoor playground with plenty of child-friendly pathways, parks and boardwalks, which makes it the perfect location to explore on two wheels.

Jump on your bike and check out the many pristine manicured parks and cycle tracks that weave throughout Robina and Varsity Lakes – and best of all, it is relatively flat and easy-to-ride terrain, making it easy for kids (and adults!) of all ages.

Cycling is an ideal form of exercise that attracts over one billion happy bike riders world-wide. A recent Dutch study found regular cycling can increase your life span by up to 14 months, just another plus!

The 3.4 kilometre ride from the Varsity Lakes retail precinct to Robina Town Centre is an easy 15 minute ride or take the scenic 5.2 kilometre route from Bond University to Burleigh Heads in a leisurely 20 minutes.

Indoor Woodland Play Park Robina

After the whirlwind pre-Christmas shop-a-thon, you may need to take a little break from the cash registers!  Treat yourself to a coffee at Crema Espresso, Robina Town Centre, while the kids enjoy the enchanting new play space, Woodland Play Park Robina.

Give the littlies a turn at shopping up a storm, with a miniature grocery store equipped with a kid-friendly cash register, grocery items and wooden trolleys sure to have them back on the retail bandwagon in no time.

They can also explore the various woodland themed animals, or take a ride on the bumblebee and ladybug buggies on offer in this magical space.

Tuckered out tots can enjoy some colouring in, reading or relax on bean bags and mushroom-shaped cushions underneath the magical tee-pee for some much needed time-out.

Just as importantly, mum and dad can recharge with a coffee and free Wi-Fi, while the kids are entertained.

Pack a picnic

There’s nothing quite like packing up the picnic basket, grabbing a rug and heading outdoors in search of that perfect picnic spot.

Robina and Varsity Lakes boast an array of pristine parklands that offer the perfect backdrop for a lazy morning or afternoon. Find the ideal spot for your family, whether it be by a playground, a lake or under a tree and soak up some fresh air, while enjoying lunch in the great outdoors.

A popular spot for picnicking families is Robina Common. In addition to a fun kids’ playground, you can enjoy a family game of soccer or basketball, take your dog to the gated dog area or use some of the exercise equipment along the walking track.
