Robina Group has a long history of philanthropy and of supporting the local community especially when it comes to kids and families. We are often contacted to help local families, and when we were contacted about this particular local family who needed our help we knew we had to jump on board. A Burleigh Waters mummy of two gorgeous babes has cruelly been dealt the harshest blow – a diagnosis of an aggressive breast cancer, which now sees her embarking on one of the toughest journeys she will make in her life, one no-one, especially a young mother, should have to endure.

At just 32, she recently underwent a mastectomy and will shortly commence chemotherapy. For this blog post, we can spare the details of her treatment, so brutal and unattractive, and instead cut to what is really important.

Courtney, a nurse, and her husband Mark, a teacher, both give so much of themselves, as is evident by their chosen professions. Their family is truly blessed – a loving family with two adorable girls 3 and 1. We can be grateful that the girls are young enough to not fully understand the real impact this disease will have on their family, but with little Evie now having to commence daycare for the first time whilst her mummy undergoes treatment, and for Paige to witness her mother suffer (even strongly, as she no doubt will) and weaken/lose her hair through chemo, it is simply heartbreaking to imagine the months to come in this humble and loving home.

A group of friends and family is rallying around this generous soul in her time of need, as she would so readily do herself. They are holding a massive raffle to raise funds to assist in a time where financial hardship should not be adding to a burden already so great. Courtney has had to stop working, and with additional kindy fees, and medical expenses, breast cancer is the leech that knows no bounds – taking from all aspects of the lives it so unfairly enters.

Through its Facebook page, CBDRobina, Robina Group has contributed a $500 David Jones voucher – with tickets being sold for just $5. All money raised is being sent directly to this family in need, so you can be sure that each ticket being sold is making a difference. Many other great prizes are up for grabs, with tickets from just $2.
