Convenient freshness for local shoppers

A passion for providing the freshest of fresh produce, paired with the current shift towards healthy eating and living, has has seen local family-owned business, Earth Markets grow both in popularity and size.

Robina locals and sisters, Voulla Pedersen and Tsambica Manettas are the purveyors of freshness behind Earth Markets – Robina Town Centre’s largest and longest running fruit and vegetable store.

Committed to bringing only the best local fruit and vegetables from the farm to the plate, the sisters have noticed that the demand for fresh produce has only continued to rise, as more people looked to serve up nutritious meals the whole family will enjoy.

Tsambica and her husband George have been in the fruit and veggie business for 27 years and opened the doors to Earth Markets at Robina Town Centre in 2001, with sister Voulla and husband Kelly Pedersen coming on board in 2010.

Earth Markets has evolved and grown with Robina Town Centre over the years, changing locations several times, before becoming part of its newest foodie precinct, The Kitchens.

The families have continually grown their local green grocer empire and now have multiple Gold Coast locations.

Voulla says the team at Earth Markets encouraged customers to explore how to use fresh food in their daily diet, including organic grocery items.

“My brother-in-law George goes to local farms and the Brisbane markets every single day to make sure all the produce on the shelf is as fresh as possible,” she said.

“He finds the best produce at the best prices and then delivers it to each of our stores. He is very disciplined in going to the markets each morning to find the best fruit and vegetables he can.

“It is a major passion for us and we are absolutely uncompromising in that aspect.”

The sisters share their extensive fresh food knowledge with the community through monthly demonstrations at The Cooking Stage, also located in The Kitchens precinct.

Voulla says everyone is welcome to come along to the demonstrations and encouraged to ask questions and seek direction on healthy cooking tips.

“We share our healthy and balanced meal ideas, which use only fresh ingredients and incorporate both meat and vegetarian options,” she said.

“We demonstrate the method of our recipes to provide the knowledge and support so people feel confident to create healthy meals at home.

“After more than 16 years at Robina Town Centre, we have a really good understanding of what locals are looking for and it is really inspiring for us to be able to assist the community to become an all-round healthier place.”

Earth Markets is open from 8am to 7pm seven days a week, and open until 9pm on Thursday.
