City of Gold Coast are inviting any and all local residents to come along and help plants trees in the Robina City Parklands (Green Heart) this weekend as part of the National Youth Week and Connect to your Creek annual programs.

Enjoy getting your fingers in the earth and help plant 1,000 native trees along Mudgeeraba Creek to revegetate the area and provide valuable habitat for our native wildlife and migratory bird species that regularly visit the site.  The natural areas team have also identified the area as a potential long term site for a volunteer bushcare group to assist with continually energising the park, which is envisaged to become the Central Park of Gold Coast City.

This event is being hosted by City of Gold Coast in partnership with Beaches to Bushland Landcare.

RSVP has now been extended, so please register now free before Friday morning to be a part of this initiative and help make a difference to our local environment.

The Connect to Your Creek Week initiative encourages the local community to spend some time outdoors, getting in touch with nature and enjoying the local waterways for the physical, mental and social health benefit.

National Youth Week is an important opportunity to celebrate the achievements, vitality and strength of young people aged 12 to 25 and to acknowledge their positive contribution to our communities and the 2016 theme is ‘Be the Future’.
